Re: cutting off and your rep
Your rep should enforce the 1 minute prep test. This still holds the field.

Re: cutting off and your rep
From your rep, well, depending how good he is. From management, well, that is another story. Any excuses from you are not up to the job to threat of wilful delay of mail (had it on a few occasions). Just remenber to follow the correct procedures as the way you tell them the news (witness, record etc) or they will try to skin you proper. Watch your back in the office and out on delivery as you will be their target of the month. Stick to your guns and don't give them a bit of a chance to say good bye to you. Another good thing is if they put you spare, more cut off for you as you don't know the job.... see how long they do that. maybe if the all office cut off, you will be all spares

Love the threat of being taken off delivery if you want to complete on time and you wont get the whole delivery done. I'd advise any member to go onto the new delivery the manager says he wants them to do, then say you'll be leaving even more of that one as you dont know it, then stick in a grievance. Got to stand up to them, too many people s**t themselves when managers go round with their petty threats. Remember youll never see a manager go 1 min over their time and you wont see one past 10am on a saturday.twobags wrote:what should i expect from the union rep regarding advice and support, and what reaction can i expect from managers ,some in our office have been threatened with things like being taken off there duty and used as relief etc with the performance issue excuse .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: cutting off and your rep
Royal Mail management are a total disgrace, the best way I found to combat their bullshit intimidatory tactics was to just stop the conversation dead and tell the manager if he wished to discuss the issue further with a view to it being performance related, he should put it in writing and call an official meeting with my rep present.
The same tw@ however, would and still does regularly threaten new starters with less than 2 years service by saying that if they cut off, to remember who is holding their contract...

Re: cutting off and your rep
We have received reports from a number of areas in that Royal Mail are attempting to either cease temporary contracts or extend these contracts to a maximum of four year period.twobags wrote:what is this agreement ? 2 years 4 years what, the union rep and cohorts must all be freemasons or something have secret handshakes why is all this stuff kept so secretive, and by secretive i dont want to hear imformation is available at or you can get a copy or download etc this is word of mouth stuff you know communication where you stand face to face and converse especially newbiesPOSTMAN wrote:It's 4 years now, newbies have 4 years of hell.It should be 2 but RM are ignoring the agreement.EpicFail wrote:Royal Mail management are a total disgrace, the best way I found to combat their bullshit intimidatory tactics was to just stop the conversation dead and tell the manager if he wished to discuss the issue further with a view to it being performance related, he should put it in writing and call an official meeting with my rep present.

Such contracts will not exceed two years unless it has been jointly agreed that there are very exceptional circumstances.

In a nutshell,we have an agreement that newbies who reach 2 years rolling contracts should be made permanent,RM are ignoring it.
