Because we wouldn't agree with extra lasping of walks our manager is making us take mailsort on a saturday which we haven't done in years. Because of this we have gone back to a 5 start on a Saturday. We cleared the mailsort, all walks thrown out, everything was done and clear. However because we started at 5 which is our offical time on a Saturday instead of 6 which we have been doing cos of the time the mail comes up, our manager wouldn't let us go out. We were made to wait an hour before we could go out, I asked y and was told cos we started at 5 without consulting her first and the fact we won't laspe any more than we are doing we wernt not to go out till the exit time. Are you made to wait till the exit time before you can go out??

our new dim is also insisting mailsort GOES on a saturday but there isnt much anyway

whats extra lapsing ? sometimes we do 20 houses sometimes we do 90 houses its still lapsing not extra lapsing

If we had started at 6, took the mailsort and done as normal, we could of gone out asoon as we were ready, but because we started at 5 we had to wait hense the subject 'immature manager'

Jeannie, nobody can make you lapse on a regular defined basis. It is all to do with the amount of traffic you have on any given day. The absorption rules clearly define that this can only be applied if there is sufficient time within your conditioned hours for that day. No time, no absorption, if time then they are entitled to give you sufficient work to take you up to your finish time.

They can by ensuring the indoor hours are increased (by paying p/t staff overtime).
