Unit Trainer not doing their job!!!!!

We have a Unit Trainer who does absolutely nothing and refuses to train anybody as they say they are to busy or nothing needs doing!! My question is does the Unit Training position go up for signing each year like the safety reps and union jobs do? as i would like the opportunity to train the staff myself if they cannot be bothered?

it does not go up for signing every year, its theirs till they or your dom decides otherwise

Well our previous DOM didn't give a hoot about training or health and safety or really anything, so no training was carried out in over 2 years!! now we have a new DOM who wants to bring the office back up to speed, but the Trainer said they will only train new entrances, only because they get to come off the sorting, throw off their walk and split the delivery between two of them. YES they get an extra allowance, I've just started carrying out the health and safety training in WTLL and thought I would do the other training seeing as my colleagues are happy for me to do this, but was unsure how it all worked!

The allowance is £30 p/wk..... However my experience after putting in for the position in our office, the main credential required is to be able to bury your head up the managers back passage as far as possible. They do not train in our office correctly and follow the training schedule, they cut it as short as possible and get you to sign a document to make you responsible !!!!! You will also need the ability to fudge the A+ in the managements favour

There's a training schedule? I would definitely like to see the one for our unit... I will ask to take a look at it tomorrow so i can remind the trainer of the units training needs!!

As for putting it's head up the managers backside, this is definitely not the case where I work, the main credentials for a trainer is be as rude and blunt as possible and tell everyone including the DOM where to go when asked quizzed over training!! 2 weeks ago the trainer refused to carry out PDA training so the PHG had to do it

risk assessmants by law have to be done every 12 months and records kept

the staff would need to sign the staffing post register to confirm they have had the traning

a safety rep should demand to see all the risk assesmants and S.S.O.W for which they have to agree,by law

this would need to be done prior to any revision implementation by way of the SAC 3

Sorry what I mean is the RM training schedule for each individual task such as the use of PDA's which states the training session should take 1hr plus not the few minutes we have in our office......

i've only just taken on the role of unit H&S rep and have just started doing the WRAP, like I said training the staff including training the TRAINER so what Training do they actually have to do themselves?

Well i'm sure the Trainer is aware of the training criteria, but is happy to just pocket the allowance and ignore their responsibilities, not sure whats the best to do here, but they have allot of work to catch up on or are just hoping i will cover it all as i'm doing now !!

Yes i'm being released to do the WRAP, I fully understand it's importance, but it shouldn't take to long to complete, so I can move on to other areas that are in desperate need of attention.

Way to late for all of this, our revision came in months ago, risk assessments completely ignored, no consultation with staff.. complete deviation and breach of the law!!

the traniers have people dedicated to come in and educate them in there given tasks, be it PDA or HCT, LWT
vehicle checks etc

you need to be asking the question

HAS THE OFFICE TRANIER HAVE THE RELEVANT TRANING to then teach the staff

if not, what he is doing is in direct contradiction of health and safey at work

have you been shown how to do wrap

MARY
severe weather action plan
mapping the office
hazard card and holders
welfare stops

etc,etc

once you have compleated WRAP, it is printed off and goes into the walk logs for each duty

YOU NEED TO ASK THE DOM FOR A COPY OF THE SAC 3 THAT WAS SENT TO THE SAFETY DIRECTOR to sign PRIOR TO THE REVISION SIGN OFF

the DOM shold have a copy in the SAC 3 folder in his office
