Back to work after IHR

Hi All,

Are there any legal docs to view regarding going back to work after being made IHR. I was told you can go back after 2 years if proven fit enough but not sure how true it is! Not sure I want to go back though yet 'the system sounds mad'

two years is right, however they would look at the circumstances that made you become ihr. but even if you do get back, they are only offering 3 month rolling contracts for new starters. if you arent ''flexible'', and are not prepared to go over you,re time, then they wont renew. thats assuming you are going into a d.o. also, you will get shoved left right and centre, doing hand backs etc. think hard before you jump.

I am limited in to what jobs i can take, now that royal fail have f@@ked my life up. I liked my job 'at the time' it was the numpties running the gaff I had a problem with. If given the chance I maybe would take p/t, that's if I don't find work in the meantime

If it's another employer you are seeking work from after IHR , you can do it the day after the last day of service . If you were seeking work back at RM , it is possible ( unless you were given early pension , in which case you couldn't )

I was told by my divisional rep and the manager when i was ihr'd that you could reapply to go back to royal mail whenever (if you wanted to) as long as you proved yourself fit and well enough regarding the reasons you were ihr'd in the first place.

I think the two year policy relates to if you were sacked or took evr or vr.

I stand to be corrected.

11. RE-EMPLOYMENT FOLLOWING ILL HEALTH RETIREMENT

Where an individual has been retired for Ill Health they will have opportunity to request re-employment within Royal Mail Group when/if they are again able to carry out their previous duty or another duty for the employer and there will be no artificial barriers to their re-employment.

Royal Mail Group is an equal opportunities employer and will consider all applications on their merit, including those from previous employees. Experience gained from working within the Group in the past is an advantage in any recruitment process, and this applies equally to individuals that have been retired on ill health grounds. In such cases however, it would be essential for an individual to demonstrate that they have recovered sufficiently to be able to perform a normal range of duties.

Re-employment will be subject to a referral to the OHS to confirm the individual has recovered from the ill health that supported the recommendation for retirement. The individual will be required to provide supporting evidence that they have recovered from their ill health and may be required to have a medical examination.

Their previous overall attendance record will be considered in the normal way but they will not be disadvantaged due to absences related to their ill health retirement.

It is also important to recognise that:

• It will be unlikely individuals will be able to return to their original former job.
• It will be dependent on an appropriate vacancy being available.
• They may be expected to be flexible in terms of job location and date of return.
• Where retraining is required it will be given.
• On their return they will be eligible to join the appropriate Pension Scheme for new employees.

I believe that staff who have taken VR (provided they are not on a unreduced pension) can apply for jobs at RM again after 2 years.

What if you were sacked for wilful delay? Can you apply again after 2years?
