CWU cannot stand by again and do nothing

Sorry if this has been posted already:

Just heard today that RM yet again are claiming poverty, nothing new there then.
And that they are not willing or going to pay out the 3.5% pay increase this year.

Hopefully someone with the know can help clear this up, is there any truth in this?

If this is the case and the CWU do nothing about it then sorry I am out. We can only take so much s**t

I suspect the source of the rumours is from the Update on National Talks - see separate forum for LTB on this issue. There is a mention that 'the company again confirmed their willingness to very quickly finalise 2012 pay' This could be interpreted in various ways - either they are not going to honour the 3.5% deal agreed in the BT2010 beacuse they can't afford it (just like Colleagueshares) or that the CWU are trying to negotiate an uplift based on the fact that inflation, as measured by RPI, is higher. The provision for a review was actually in the BT2010 deal.
The comment begs the question what is there to finalise since we already have a 3 year deal.

I don't think we will get more than 3.5% - Moya will no doubt say that with the next instalment of the pension deficit to pay at the end of March that the business can't afford a pay rise - this will inevitably result in industrial action and the public will have little or no sympathy for our cause!

They did say back in Mar 2011

The Union will insist that there are new written commitments that Royal Mail will honour pay rises, lump sums, the shorter working week and all other elements of the Agreement within the original timescale agreed. This will include provision for a default position (agreed date) whereby members benefits will be delivered come what may.

Lets hope they got that and either forget to tell us, or that we can't recall being told.

Prepare yourselves for a whopping great pile of Jack Sheet for this payrise. It was always an "if the circumstances are right" agreement just like the phantom shares and we all know what happened there!

Can't think why there's no money? After all it's not like they wasted any buying thousands of new vans, or had issued a brand new uniform when there was nothing wrong with the other one. Or even if they had paid out millions in bonuses to the lazy wasters perched at the top of the company?

Personally think the 3.5% will be paid , Royal Mail know that there will no further progress if they dont pay it but they did cheekly try and link it with agreeing the flow project before the CWU told him where to get off.

Withdrawal of the 3.5% pay rise is probably,after compulsory redundancies the only thing left that would galvanise the membership nationally.
I think Royal mail are aware of that.
They are much happier undermining confidence in the union and picking us off area by area rather than taking us on as a whole.
That will come later when they think we are weak enough,probably over something like MTSF.
