If you are down to work normally on a bank holiday then you get the day off and paid for the bank holiday. If the bank holiday falls on one of your non working days then you get credited the day back which is added to your holiday entitlement.

Thats correct for part time and full time workers - but not sure about "Job share" - As I understand if job share is basically 1 job shared between 2 or more people.

Now it we applied Lincox's reply (and he indeed may well be right) its possible that both would get the bank holiday back so RM would in effect loose 2 working days rather than 1. I think, and I emphasise the THINK, that the entitlement is spread over the people who share the job on a Pro-rata basis, but even this would cause problems.

For instance - as most public holidays fall on a Monday what happens if the Monday share has used their entitlement, do they either not get paid for that day, or do they come in and work alone.

To be honest shouldn't this be covered in the Job Share contract, something along the lines of these 2 suggestions on a web page I found http://www.personneltoday.com/articles/ ... ement.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There something in the harmonisation P/T -Fulltime agreement for people who work less than 4 day attendances..BH entitlement, they get a percentage of those who work 4 or more days (say 3 days =3/5 of 8 I think off the top of my head) and nominate which ones they want off and work the ones they don't... if office is closed on the ones they are working they are expected to make time up in the week ... Wether it applies to job share I don't know srry ,

I am job share and the person who is not down to work on the bank holiday gets the credit. The person who is down to work gets paid for having the day off. Simple, Royal Mail are only paying bank holiday entitlement for the two people involved in the job share. Both are entitled to receive bank holiday payment in one form or another.

I would try and claim the lot. Make a list of all the bank holidays that you should have been given credit for and submit it to your DOM with a letter stating that RM should have automatically credited you with these days and as such you want them allocated to you in this years annual holiday entitlement and wait for the steam coming out of his ears.
