Who can tell me the basics of the strike?/Scotland query!

Post by work = pay »

Im waiting for very valuable, very important mail that Im told has become "!scab mail" that posties wont touch.
Can someone please take a little time to explain to me why my mail is being left to the side while new mail is being processed as normal? :mad
What happened to you that has caused you to ignore my mail?
Do you think that is the fairest way to get to the Big Dogs or do you not think you are just punishing people like me who know nothing about the situation?
I'm trying to run a business and this has caused me major hassle so I'd appreciate if someone could at least explain the basics to me and then I could relay the information to my angry customers.
I'd appreciate it.
Fiona.

Read some of your posts.. sorry to hear u feel we havel let you down.. As to who you put your anger to its not the postmen and woman its the ones trying to run the place in2 the ground!!! What we the posties want is to keep the service going and also to keep our jobs... any1 who is full-time is walking on eggshells as the company want rid of us full-timers , its not a nice feeling, i love my job and its awful it has come to this..but despite what the public seem to think that we are strike for more money that is far far from the truth.. If you want a general feel for what we are fighting for just read a few of the post by the guys on here, i myself had no idea it was this bad till i became a loyal member here with my collegues..

QUOTE FROM BBC NEWS SITE:

Willy Marshall, branch secretary of Central Scotland CWU, said anger had "boiled over" into the unofficial dispute.

"Our workers were asked to sort scab mail, which is mail the managers should handle if our workers are on strike, and they refused so they were suspended," he said.

"We want our men that were sent home to be brought back and start getting paid again and unless that happens the strike will continue."

QUOTE FROM SCOTSMAN NEWS SITE:

Hundred of workers at a sorting office in Edinburgh called the wildcat strike yesterday in protest against being asked to sort "scab" mail.

The dispute in Edinburgh flared after four workers had their pay stopped for refusing to handle mail transferred from Glasgow following an unofficial strike there, said the Communication Workers Union. Around 200 walked out yesterday morning.

Ah right fiona now i understand.
Unfortunately, as you are aware, these are very troubled times at RM.
i understand your frustration and appreciate it. However due to management's stubborness we are in this position!!
The union have continually asked the head of RM to negotiate from the very start of this action-----RM just continued to state their business plan
which would cut jobs and service to you the customer, that's what we are fighting for!!!! So that you can continue to use a good service.
The end of talks is Sept 4, please bear with us until then and sorry for any inconvenience.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
