CWU Death Benefit

In accordance with the terms expressed in CWU Rule 4.1.11 Branches are advised that from the 1st October 2011 the CWU Death Benefit payment will be increased to £700.

This information will also be published in the Voice.

I'll disagree with you this once DGP.
Considering it's an "add on" benefit to being a member it's a decent payout.
Sure,it won't buy much more than the first round but that's what insurance is for and like you say...at that stage it won't bother you too much.

I'm more worried about her who would be spending it reading this..........my own insurance is scary enough plus whatever the death in service/pension payment is makes me fear for my life sometimes.................and now an extra £700 from the CWU

The NEC is moving sharply on this. Among the options we may well be placing before annual conference in May are:
• Abolishing the Death Grant.

Knowing my luck I'd get a faulty one and end up falling through the bottom of it. The wicker ones are quite nice though and probably burn better than compacted cardboard.
