How much holiday entitlement do I have??

Hi, im on a 20 hr a week 3 month contract, my contract doesn't state specifically how much holiday I get, but I was given my annual holiday form and it states 15 days, is this correct? as I have booked it all, but a couple of other people told me that's too much for me to be on? and im taking my holiday then leaving after the 3 months, I just want to know if this is correct? or will they try and make me pay it back if its not etc?? please help! thanks guys

It's too much.
Your annual entitlement would be 22.5 days.
For 3 months it would be at most rounded up...6 days.
Yes they will want it back.

thanks for the information, but how can they give me 15 days on a 3 month contract and allow me to take it, as im in the holiday period now? How can they do this when my contract finishes shortly, does it not seem a bit ridiculous, if im not entitled to it how can I take it, and how will they take it back etc?

It is ridiculous.
It is Royal Mail.
They will take it back either by kidnapping your final weeks wages or if they don't realise until after you've gone they will send you a letter detailing what you owe and try to reach agreement over repayment.
If no agreement is reached they will use a debt recovery agency.

What a joke, so the best thing for me to do would be to tell them to cancel the remainder of my holiday after 6 days?

If i was in your position,didn't have anything booked and had no intention of remaining in employment after the 3 months then...yes...i would only take what i was entitled to.

You may get away with it,this company makes a lot of mistakes with pay and holidays but if you don't you would effectively be taking the other 9 days unpaid..which is pointless.

Or.. you could take the 15days, and gamble that Royal Mail don't realise their mistake.

If they do eventually realise, and send a letter, try to reach an agreement with them to repay them at £1 a week, and just view the holiday pay you were not due (but because of RM's ineptness, were paid anyway) as a form of extended credit
