we had a couple of run ins when i was a rep and i felt i did not get the backing i needed,and since i was accused of this he has not really told me my options ,given advice or anything im not saying he wont do the job but i worry he might not have his heart in it for me and after all i might be down the road if i face the royal mail area manager and cant prove this women is telling a pack of lies.

If dismissal has been mentioned it should be the area rep anyway, is it fact finding or formal interview under discipline ie conduct code? Sorry mis-read. The union dont like to let you pick the reps, so im gonna say no. TBH if he cant represent you on an equal basis he shouldnt be doin the job. I have had to represent someone who got my best mate the sack, but i still choose him over the managers.

always best to have a rep in anyways. if you do get sacked and have a appeal then by all means get area rep. whats your sacking over by the way

sorry just clear up a few points i do have my own area rep working on this but i want a area rep from a diff area because of my concerns.
ive had the fact finding done and yes been passed to somebody that has the power to sack
cant go into details of case to much as you can imagine but im 100% being fitted up both by this customer and now by royal mail who see an opitunity to sack somebody that gave them grief during are revision.
luckily ive got anough noggin about me and ive been doing some serious detective work this week and got a case that will stand
up in a legal court easily ,because ive got statements to back it up.
but this is royal mail and we all no how they work.
