interesting fact for you, theres only one person in the uk who has signed the official secrets act, none of us have signed it, we are only signing to state that we are aware of our obligations under it, we are actually covered by the act regardless of signing that form or not as is everyone in the uk
now what you can tell the media or so basically depends on what you want to tell them, if its about how rubbish then p+l revisions are going then your fine, but if it was say a detailed description of how special delivers are handled in your office and who has them and where they are at any specific time then you would be in trouble

Both covered in the Royal Mail Group plc CODE OF BUSINESS STANDARDS A Guide for Employees....
Both a definite no-no if you want to keep your job....
• safeguarding confidential information against abuse or unauthorised disclosure, and complying with laws protecting personal data.
• you must not make any statement to the media that brings the company into disrepute;
...but you're right about the OSA and the implied obligation everyone has and the fact that all we sign is an acknowledgement that we understand that obligation.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: official secret act
you are permitted to speak to the media or goverment without fear of prosecution or dismissal under
THE WHISTLE BLOWING ACT
but the reasons for doing so are for criminal or serious health and safety violations by the employer
not revenge or back stabing

Re: official secret act
We don't need to whistleblow, most of the media know that rm are a shambles. You just pick up a paper and failure this or failure that. Or ? in court for keeping 1000 letter in his home or car. This isn't normal.

Re: official secret act
The phrase 'the media' was traditionally understood to mean radio, TV and the press, but is such an outdated concept in the internet age.fishtank wrote:zx135 wrote:

Many companies have sacked employees for making derogatory statements about the business they work for in posts to Facebook, Twitter etc etc
Let's hope RM don't start trawling through the posts on here
