RE-SIGN SENIORITY

Post by cityfc »

Can anyone advise correct procedure and is this in black and white anywhere so I can copy?

With seniority in mind, and other factors as below, who would have first picks?,can part time pick against full time duties,if they have longer service?

Permanent 40 hour contracts

Long service 30 hour plus 10 hour contract (some are people who have moved from other DO and given up full time 40 hour contract and accepted 30 + 10)

Shorter service 30 hour plus 10 hour contracts

Permanent 35 hour contracts

Permanent 24 hour contracts

You'd better factor-in family-friendly hours, which is being discussed in another thread ....

According to fishtank, if you choose to have kids and then need to work a particular shift pattern, that puts you ahead of even the most senior person in the office if you apply for family-friendly hours in a re-sign.

How about Royal Mail allowing bids for 'single-friendly hours', so that young blokes like me can go out on the pull, sink a few pints and roll in to work about 11am ? :cool

RESOURCING JOBS AS A RESULT OF MAJOR CHANGE INTRODUCTION

4. On completion of the resign, part-timers will be able to apply for full time jobs that are left vacant by full time
employees, Exceptionally, part timers who have been in their current role for less than 12 months will also be able to apply. Full time employees must not be left without a job as a result of a resign.

Contracted hours has no bearing on seniority in a delivery office.

Fishtank you are saying that someone who has seniority, and transferred in on 30 hours permanent + 10 hours, has priority over someone with less service, but is on a permanent 40 hour contract. If this is correct then persons on 40 hour permanent could lose 40 hour contract and be put on 30 hour contract.
Surely 40 hour permanent contract takes priority over 30 hour. So 40 hour in seniority then 30 hour in seniority and so forth would be the way to choose.

There are one or two in my office who appear to be on "single-friendly hours".
I don't know if they have a written agreement for it though.

I'm not sure what a +10 :left: contract is but if their contract is 30hrs they cannot pick a full-time duty unless there is a surplus of full-time duties.
Full time employees must not be left without a job as a result of a resign.

Fishtank
We have people on 40 hour permanent, and we have some on 30 hour permanent + 10 hours as they are doing a 40 hour duty, obviously the 10 hours are not contracted, they only have 30 hour contracts.
The people on the 30 + 10 are long serving and they transfered in accepting these contracts.
So what you are saying is, yes, they have pick above the other people, but cannot pick a 40 hour duty.
We also have people on other hours ranging from 24 hours upwards.
So if I am reading you correctly, they can pick a duty, but NOT a 40 hour,at least not until all 40 hour contract people have chosen and then they can choose 40 hour duty if any are left.

Yes...otherwise you would run the risk of creating surplus full-time employees.

It's called a late shift in a Mail Centre.
