grievance timescale
can someone please shed a bit of light on when you should hear back from a grievance put in. I sent mine off to the DSM and had no response, It will be a week on Monday. How long does he have to acknowledge it. My rep says 10 days and send it then to his manager as apparently lots of grievances are trying to be "swept under the carpet". Our DOM has had 9 lodged against him in two weeks (that I know of) and no one has had a reply yet.

Re: grievance timescale
The same thing happend to me a few years ago, after weeks of me asking my shift manager when is he going to hear my grievance,I did an "Ask Allan",asking what is the time frame for a grievance as I had submitted one to my shift manager weeks ago and have not yet had a meeting. Two days later the shift manager called me in to his office to hear my grievance, his first words were "I've been instructed to hear this grievance".So if i were you I would do an Askmoya or whatever is called now.clewsy01 wrote:can someone please shed a bit of light on when you should hear back from a grievance put in. The reason for the 28 day rule, is that after that time you can go straight to an industrial tribunal. So if you have a manager who keeps on sweeping your grievance under the carpet for weeks you can go to an industrial tribunal with your original grievance.

Re: grievance timescale
A tribunal will look at the ISSUES of a grievance in the form of an ET1 as long as you are covered by a 'protected characteristic' as described in the Equality Act 2010.
I take it this grievance is against your DOM, or may contain information which you consider to be extremely personal, as you have gone straight to Stage 2 of the procedure otherwise, you should have gone to your line manager. Only asking this so that you are following RM Grievance Procedure to the letter.

Re: grievance timescale
I want to start a grievance but do not want to go through stage one as the dom and his linos are involved.
as my last grievance wasnt even acknowledged i dont want to go to the area manager.
i want to send this one straight to the top.
any help please.....btw im sacked and imo mentioning grievance in the investigation and being sacked when another was only given a warning on the same charge i have clearly been treated differently.
any help????

Re: grievance timescale
If you have been sacked and believe that RM acted unreasonably then a grievance is not the correct avenue.
You must lodge an appeal against the dismissal - there is a time limit so act fast. If the appeal fails then you may wish to go for an Employment Tribunal where they will make a decision based on your evidence and RMs. However, they will not decide on whether dismissal was fair or not, merely on whether their actions where reasonable.
I would strongly suggest seeing a solicitor or going to CAB as soon as possible.
