Holiday Blues

I fully understand that royal mail need advance notice of holiday, but I'm currently being hassled to book all next years holiday by September this year! I've also got leave left for this year that I'm being told I can't have untill Feb/March. I've had an unsucessful meeting about this and have been advised to put in a grievance about it. This i am loathe to do because of the fallout if you take my meaning.

i,m on a 30 hour contract, i work my rest day most weeks. I'm sure my superiors wouldn't go 7 months without a holiday.Any advice for me or do I just have to suck it up?

your one of the lucky ones then theres no chance of our office booking next years till at least december

I Don't feel too lucky bud - Fingers crossed I'll have found gainful employment somewhere/anywhere else soon.

Are you in the CWU and if so what is your reps advice? I don't think they can make you book your leave this far in advance whatever your contract. As for working your day off, lucky you, we have a 37 hours overtime cap per week for our whole office so we are grateful if we can book a few hours extra each week.

I'm in the union my rep just tells me it's part of the national agreement.

If only there WAS a national agreement about when/how you can take your holidays but I've yet to see one.

All I am aware of is the government advice which they largely ignore.

in the way forward agreement it does say that annual leave should be allocated by october for the following year.
