Sacked or Resign ?

Can anyone tell me what are the pro's and cons of either course of action.

ie, what happens to pensions if your sacked or resign, benefit entitlements etc. Cheers lads and lasses.

if you resign from a job i dont think your entitled to benefits,, might be wrong but thats the way i think it works

I'm not sure but i think they freeze your pension and you maybe you can move it elsewhere but i'm not that sure.

These days they say if you are sacked it is your own fault so no benbfits for a while, the same as if you resign. If you resign your entitled to payment for any outstanding holidays, if you get sacked they are not required to pay for them. Pensions usually get frozen and accumulate interest or you can move it to another pot. If you have been paying into it for less than ( i think ) 2 years then you can get your contributions back in a lump sum.

Also need to remember if you will be going for another job, that it looks much better if you have resigned rather than been sacked. Hope this helps.

Perhaps not, maybe they have decided to leave anyway, but was just weighing up the cost of sticking it to the man!

As others have said if you resign your pension is frozen, that is 100% correct. I have a POPS pension that is frozen.
