Accident on duty/Injury on duty

A woman at our office is up for a stage warning.When she was out delivering her back went,stupidly she came back to work after about 4 days and it went again.As far as I know she signed the accident book.The Dom has told her that she will get a stage warning because its an injury not an accident.I would have thought that your back going while your out delivering 7 or 8 bags is work related.Is it right that a warning should be given in this case?
Sick warnings in our office are a joke they're virtually automatic but I guess thats the case everywhere.

Yes , i think its the same all over mate, a guy at my office was out with a kidney stone, in hospital, took him to a stage 3 a 2nd time and he got the sack!! he even lost his appeal!! if i was your friend i wudnt have been back so soon..

Absolutely pathetic that RM can get away with this shi-,surely if you have a doctors line(as I've seen on previous posts)they can't sack you!!!! It's time something was done about this way of treating staff!!!!

Has anyone taken Legal Aid or gone to Citizens Advice? :cfo :lfo

Injury or accident if it was on duty it should not count, the only reason not to disscount accident/injury is if the dum can prove that the employee did something that was not following health and safety i.e carrying over weight bags or running on their duty etc. but like people say they'll say out the bastards to get rid off somene.

I was issued a Stage 2 after returning to work. because of Stress, due to a managers bullying & harrassment (a case RM upheld in my favour). They don't give a s**t, they would love to get all us full timers sacked so we can be replaced by part time staff.

I think its about time the union challenged the sick system at royal mai, its a disgrace the way its being enforced.Our area manager told me only 60% get issued-what a load of bollocks that is eh?

All stages are triggered automatically from main offices.
There is no managers discretion anymore!!
They are using any s****y tactic to get rid of people, conduct or sick-----it's pathetic and desperate.

Line managers are not allowed to follow the guide lines set out in the attendance agreement, they are being pressurised from above to issue stage warnings regardless of the circumstances. as i've said before try and link absences to accidents on duty at least then you have a fighting chance. i'm sorry but if they don't play by the rules why should we!

I made that mistake, and got the sack on a stage 3, that was back in May. Luckily, I won my appeal, 'cos my union guy was on the ball, and I'm back in work next week, but DON'T GO IN ALONE!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I think it's high time the CWU brought it's legal eagles to scrutinise Royal Fail's underhand tactics. I sometimes have to check the
date on my calendar to make sure it's 2007 and not 1887.

And they have the nerve to call trade unionists, Dinosaurs. It was people like Leighton & Crozier who ran the "Dark, Satanic, mills",
of the 18th and 19th centuries, they posess the same attitudes. They should be crushed.
