Swings and roundabouts

Swings and roundabouts - according to my Manager are legal according to my Rep are illegal.
Im not on about longs and shorts we already have to do this and im not on about absorption we also already do this as well. Is there something in some working act of 2002 stating this system is illegal? Please throw some light on this for me and my office?

probably, if you finish an hour early on, say, tuesday, you can go over by an hour on a thursday or friday,,,,a so called swings and roundabout basis as they call it. doesnt happen at ours though.

even if they did agree it, it wouldnt happen, people would just hang their pots out,,,,deliberately taking their time. oops i mean doing the job properly

Swings and roundabouts is mentioned in the 30 minute flexibility for unforseen circumstances for the business and requests from OPGs. But as Fishtank says its not, or at least, it shouldn't be used for early finish on a Tuesday to cover a late day later in the week.

you would think so,but some carry on regardless and hope they finish early enough some days and
take a swings and roundabouts hit now and again,because its better than doing the job properly and finishing
at your time most days as that would be pure crazy.

as any fool knows : early start x IPS for free x easy monday divided by the square root of lapsing = an aresehole

what way would it work if a previous local rep and area rep had agreed this procedure with a past manager and now RM have it in writing, would it be possible to get this over turned as it is not a national agreement

THIS IS PART OF THE 2007 PAY AND MOD AGREEMENT

FLEXING OVER YOUR DUTY TIME IS VOLUNTARY AND NOT COMPULSORY

THEY CAN ASK, BUT CANNOT ENFORCE

BANKING HOURS IS NOT IN THE PAY AND MOD AGREEMENT BUT WHAT YOU WILL FIND MANAGERS ARE DOING IS

UTALISING MAN HOURS

IF YOU COME BACK SAY AT 1PM, THEY CAN THEN SEND YOU BACK OUT FOR AN HOUR

IF YOU BOOK DOCKET ON A FRIDAY AND THE MANAGER REFUSES SAYING YOU FINISHED EARLY ON A TUESDAY IS IN CONTRAVENTION OF SECTION 13 OF THE EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS ACT AND YOU NEED TO RAISE A GRIEVANCE


ON THE ISSUE OF LOCAL AGREEMENTS

NATIONAL AND LOCAL AGREEMENTS ARE THE ONLY TIME THAT WILL OVER-RIDE STATUTE PROVISION

The problem with this "swings and roundabouts" idea is that Tuesday is the only day we ever finish early
and now our manager is doubling the amount of absorption on Tues to make sure all hours are utilized.

not that ive any problem with that (working to time) but then if theres no "swing" on the Tuesday
then theres nothing to offset you going over your time on the heavy Wed Thu & Friday!
and the manager can expect to pay overtime!
