Yesterday I ended up doing 2 full deliveries, I was unable to ask our rep in our office as we don't have one at the moment and one area rep was on holiday and the other unavailable. After doing the 2 deliveries I was 10 mins over my time. Still good going so this morning i asked the manager if he wanted me to claim or to just finish 10 mins early today to save putting it in the system, after all royal mail say they want a flexibility to the job!
He responded by saying that if i claim the 10 mins or finish early then he expects me to work to my time everyday, as apparently he has heard that hybrid staff are finishing early and not doing as many packets as they could ( i discussed this in a previous thread) I told him that I always work to my time which is 6pm weekdays and 4pm saturdays, and he said he has heard different and that on tuesdays we are finished so early. This is rubbish as for the past three weeks esp the last two we have failed everyday due to failed mail. When I asked what he had heard he just said conflicting stories!. So the fact is he does not trust myself and others to work unsupervised to our time, and he threatened to come back and see what time we get finished and give us all separate alarm numbers so he can monitor the time the office is locked., The worse point is one hybrid in particular has finished early three times by over 1hr 30mins due to commitments and he had never had to make this time up.
It seems to me like one rule for one and one for another.
What would be the best way to approach this, refuse extra mail until confirmed by the union? a grievance against him? reporting it to the dsm?
Its annoying as they as for flexiblity and a willingness to get the job done, and when you do it this is what you get!!
