problems booking holiday

Hi all,
this is my first time posting on the forum and was hoping for a bit of advice.
I have tried to book 3 days of for a close friends stag weekend in 3 months time, but my manager is refusing to let me book the time of due to lack of staff.
Surely 3 months is longt enough for her to sort out some sort of cover? Have i got a leg to stand on? Any info would be great

My experience is that all leave is booked in advance of the 1st April to 31st March year in whole weeks and little chance of more than a week or so during the summer holidays, no problems though if your preference is November, January or February.
Your situation therefore I suggest is sadly no worse than the rest of us.

What does your leave sheet/book say for that week,if it's full then there isn't much you can do.
If it's not full that week then she's just being a cock,get your rep to get onto your area rep if that is the case then,after your rep has torn her a new arsehole mind.

I was refused a single day off on a Friday towards the end of September after requesting it at the beginning of February. It is more than a little harsh, but it's a fight you cannot win against a stubborn Manager. You are allowed, (it is agreed with Royal Mail), to arrange a swap/cover with another employee on occasions such as these. I'd suggest that your first efforts are spent on taking that route before banging your head against a brick wall or exhausting any other avenues.

What normally works for me is asking the question: which weeks are avalable to take small number of days off, I never disclose which days I want off as they WILL keep a record of your request.

btw, one chap in our office has been to his parents funeral 6 times he was hauled in the office with rep after his attendance records were scrutinised, he got off with it saying that the funerals were those of close relatives

why not find out who is on a rotated day off for these days ask them if they would do over time then go to dom say there you go ive covered the days give me the leave

or just go sick

In an attempt to clear the backlog of outstanding leave in our DO, it is virtually impossible for anyone to get extra days for such things as stag weekends.
The only way to get any days off is to go sick or take unpaid special leave due to "domestic distress".
Even suggesting paying overtime to cover people being off is heresy, punishable by death.
I think if any female in the office got pregnant the DOM would try and deny her any maternity leave, if he couldn't talk her into having a termination.
