Hi Guys ....
Not gonna harp on ......
Whats the main difference, between ....(to me its obvious, but just interested in your thoughts) ...
1. Ill health,with a lump sum.
2.Ill health retirement,with a lump sum.
Was advised today, that ill health retirement really does mean RETIREMENT.
Given that i'm currently experiencing a terrible bout of depression, the plan is to come back into work ( But not with Royal Fail ),when and if I feel able to.
However with Ill Health Retirement,am guessing you will be continually herrassed to go to ATOS/GP or the local Job Centre Plus,to prove that you still fit the criteria to be RETIRED.
My GP,Counsellor, and Union Rep all think I fit the criteria, for the above.
But am looking to come back into work,in a couple of years when this depression slate has been wiped.
So am going for the 1st option (if they'll give it to me ) :P
Your thoughts & Advice,please guys?

you can actually apply to royal mail again, after you have seen the occupational health advisor, you could delay your decision if possibly, phone up help number is on back of wage sleep.
the money is paid as a lump sum plus 9 weeks extra pay, you will get a final report done by atos and its tax free.
then apply for benefits or find alternative employment.

ill Health retirement with lump sum...
and ill Health retirement with Pension...
The ones you state are exactly the same ...
If you are unlucky to only get the lump sum and not the Pension, you can either claim JSA or with continued sick notes claim ESA ( Job seekers/ Employment support allowance ) ..
You will be called by the DSS for an assessment if you claim ESA after a few months, the medical board at the assessment will decide if you stay on ESA or revert to JSA .
If you do claim JSA , you will have to prove to them that you are actively looking for work.
It doesn't take Stephen Hawking to say that you are far better off , if you can manage to get IHR with Pension especially if you have many years service and under 50 ....
