Doing the job properly deemed unofficial action

Post by rathbonepostie »

Apparently at Streatham D.O. (SW16) they have been "doing the job properly" and management have deemed this to be unofficial industrial action and docked them a day's pay. Because of the "period of calm" they haven't walked.

How odd that after calculating all the extra overtime incurred due to 'doing the job properly' and the extra hours booked it comes exactly to one day per person?

... unless of course it is just a figure plucked from nowhere as an illegal punishment.

what do you mean "docked them a days pay"? Any money stopped from your pay without reason is Unlawful deduction of pay you can go to a tribunal on that...and win. Someone needs to be looking into this quickly I reckon.

All staff should put in a HR1 form against the DIM. It's clear bullying from the manager. Fillin the form stating ''the manager is bullying me and stopping me from working to my 318. Good work to those people doing the job right. I'm finding it hard to convince the members at my D.O. stuck in the past they are. I think some of them think they're on 2 deliveries and have to race round their walks.

Indeed, a greivance agains the line manager should be applied in full, How can doing your job as written in your 318 which is the official guidelines agreed upon by both Union and Managment be deemed un-official action.

I have nothing but respect for those that work like this now....More of us should be doing the same not only on deliveries but proccessing too as it'll keep the pressure up...I've withdrawn all good will from my manager and she's been walking around like someone with a bad case of piles and barbed wire fingers to scratch with...I will do what she asks but mainly as she's clueless and usually screws up...Mind you that's most managers isn't it? :nana

this is one of the most stupid things I've heard so far . . . . . if working to the rules is "illegal" try asking them exactly which of their own rules they want you to break on a daily basis to make things ok, they can't possibly answer you . . . . get your money back in the next pay slip or walk, feck the period of calm this is pushing you too far and they cannot be allowed to get away with it

I personally would be hard pushed not to smack one of them (of course I also know people who would do worse but that's another story).

I really believe that the CWU need to sort this out quickly or risk a mass walkout (not to mention the damage we will cause to the CWU).

Moved to Ballot.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
