TROLLEYS or NOT

My duty is able to be used by a trolley all the way round my delivery so my question is: can my manager make me use a bag on shoulder again due to me NOT completing my duty due to the use of the trolley?
NO bags on shoulders please except for Moya who keeps her big fat wage packet in hers

My 'personal' thoughts,they wanted it in,we helped them get it in,the savings aint there,the walks are too big,it's a slower way to deliver,they are making a big noise about weight off the shoulder,so......................f**k 'em!
Sort the duty content out,not the way it's delivered.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

If your office has had a delivery methods revision and the trolley is the designated method for use on delivery, then the use of the trolley is mandatory and you cannot use anything except the trolley.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If the duties built round using a trolley, then use it....End of....

We have found that a mix of the 2 delivery methods is neccessary for some but not many walks, but those parts of walks that require bag on shoulder should be identified, probably in the walk log :hmmmm , maybe someone could correct me if im wrong....

Problem will start once you start switching methods cos it suits (saturdays) :shhhhh i have a feeling most posties will ditch trollies on a saturday cos we all wanna be away, thats when DOM will be on your case....

if its a pouch delivery then it should be planned as a 3.30 duty.

Some walks will have flats where it's impossible to use a trolley so this 'should' be factored into the duty and a bag used.

Im off my Trolley... :crazy: I am sure there is something written you can use a pouch if the weight is under a certain weight... What happens when you have blocks of flats e.t.c. or in Scotland tenements. You can be conducted for not using your trolley ! :cuppa

Postman you seem to have this agreement in your back pocket can you find a download regarding the use of trolleys for us please, I looked but could not find. Also can a DOM make you do the delivery without using a trolley? ....... cheers

One of the reasons of method revision is to take the weight off the shoulder and don’t forget that a walk log is a risk assessment so you should only use the method stated in it.
If you don’t you could open yourself up for prosecution if the HSE/EHO want to get tough.
If there are flats where you have to use stairs the max weight is 5kg
Any problems see your workplace safety rep or area safety rep
