Revision plan - CWU advice pls
After some advice on how to proceed or rather how not to proceed.
Just received the revision plan for our D.O and im just not happy and dont really see how as a rep i can proceed.
The major problems are
1 Reduction in Ft jobs, a major concern for us wasnt it?
2 Reduction in pt jobs.
3 A few hundred hours of savings taking us from 68 bsi to 106 bsi on some days with no suggestion how this is going to happen.
4 late starts late finish, obvious but still no one likes it.
5 generic times used for all duties ie all walks now 3.55 when geo has at 3.45, some 4.05.
So what started out not a savings motivated procedure seems to have turned into one and if i accept this then its obvious the only outcome will be our members struggling to complete workload and office failures, i know this is RM's problem but i dont want (further) pressured members and our D.O constantly failing, i still consider customer service important if RM dosent always.
What options do i have.
Thanks

Hi ronpete,
When you say "you received" the plans for your DO,did you and the members have FULL input on the planning? For example road terrains etc.

How are the reductions going to be managed?ronpetetrevchris wrote:After some advice on how to proceed or rather how not to proceed.

Are there VRs on offer or are there vacancies that will not be filled?

bsi is a method for measuring how efficient a unit is.alhothi wrote:what is bsi
If you are working at 100 bsi - you are a happy, highly motivated individual who is working perfectly 100% of the time.
You don't waste time, you don't make mistakes and this is what RM use as a planning value to encourage us all to strive for perfection.
It is commonly referred to as the Bull s**t Indicator.

It is a measurement tool for efficiency. There are different ones for IT,Tool Making,Clerical etc. It is also linked to motivation etc. The less motivated the less bsi. Bullying for example makes bsi lower. However our employer always accuses us of "going slow" after a revision. Your revision is a classic case of "imposing". There fore your bsi is lower. However the higher the bsi the less hours in the day you will need. Please elaborate on your revision?

Yes the staff were included when updating a+ to more detailed and therefore more accurate guage. It isnt really the outdoor i have the biggest problems with the routes seem okish. It is the upramping of indoor, prep and ip from a 60+ bsi to a 100 bsi, that to me just means flatt out no cups of tea, no chatting whilst still working etc - that surely just means stressed out staff AND managers.
The places to be lost are from currently vacant duties, but we as a union wanted to protect ft and promote more pt to ft either 32 or 40 (unadjusted) hours. We at our D.O are getting neither so im thinking this really isnt in any of my mebers interests so why should i contiue to play ball.

Are you using IWT or capacity plan for the revision?

According to ACAS and the BSI bods you should also be motivated by a financial reward/bonus scheme of up to 33% of your take home pay.clashcityrocker wrote:If you are working at 100 bsi - you are a happy, highly motivated individual who is working perfectly 100% of the time.

ronpete, go into to disagreement on your vacancies for starters. Get in touch with your area rep. Your 39 hour vacancies should be resourced via the Way Forward/Stoke Agreement,(meaning part timers can go for full time).
Business Transformation also states no one will be forced into full time or part time.
Your bsi is one worth fighting for. I am sure your average would be 65 to 85. However go for the vacancies first. That should fill up your hours, there fore your bsi could go up pending the minimum of 1 in 4 saturdays,(or more).

Re: Revision plan - CWU advice pls
this BSI crap that RM keep going on about and using
I thought that everyone was told that 100BSI was not the magic figure to be used, it was the top 10% or upper decile that offices were achieving that was to be used.
Is there any indications from either RM or the CWU on what this figure is yet and can we not tell them we are not using 100BSI until such time as we do?

Could you explain how ft can increase bsi against pt, also the office voted out of 1 in 4 in favour of wallies and 5 day rotation 60/40 respectively.
drb, I have fought every ft that went pt with the area reps assisstance but it always come to nought couls you give me pointers to the aggreement you speak of pls, because im not sure my area rep is aware of this.
Thanks

I agree 100 bsi surely is an ideal yet it is being used as a standard, for instance on my plan they want 106 on thursday to counteract the tuesday 98, can they ask for that?gerardy wrote:this BSI crap that RM keep going on about and using

They can ask for anything they want in order to try and achieve this 100BSI figure,
but this will involve the withdrawal of all breaks (smoking, toilet, coffee, talking even the grace breaks) it is just amunition for RM.
if all breaks are removed it is easier for RM to manipulate figures for the unrealistic IWT which will pave the wayback for bullying and harassment
Ask the DOM to show you the figures to show what the top 10% of offices are achieving before you even consider changing your own office figures.
Everything needs to be perfect to achieve and maintain this figure if at all possible
