The following is an abridged version of a leaflet distributed to the good people of West Haughton in 1906.

West Haughton is a constituancy cheifly composed of workers.
Among the voters are many trade unionists.
Lord Stanley as head of the Post Office shows he detests the trade unions.And has no sympathy with the working man.
he blatently choses to ignore a letter written to him by the duly elected officer of the trade union.
he absolutely refuses to discus maters with the men unless under his own terms.
He will not agree to arbitration. And after appointing a committee himself, refuses to recognise it's findings.
He called the men Bloodsuckers & Blackmailers, and threatened severe punishment if they dare to criticise his actions.
For years before Lord Stanley's rule, no full time postman received less than16/- per week little as this is Lord stanley
thought this to much.
Lord Stanley states that postmen receive a pension. He ought to add that there are many loopholes in the pension act, and
many postmen do not recieve their justly earned rights, and blatently refuses to amend them.

I believe that if we lose this fight, and the fight aint over yet either, then what we and the many generations before us have fought for and acheived, will be gone for ever, and that work conditions will return to more or less what we had in those days and victorian times and before, and yes Lord Stanley does seem to have a slight resemblence to :lfo & :cfo

Not hard when the postie only had 50 letters to deliver, no junk mail, no surcharges, no redirections, certainly no dole cheques lol

we had a better service ten years ago. y o y did we get rid off the 2nd delivery. the public want their post nice and early not in the afternoon
