Dear Colleague

NOBBY CLARKE

It is with the deep sadness and regret that we write to inform you that Nobby Clarke, passed away early this morning Friday the 15th April 2011.following a short illness.

A member of the Eastern Number 5 Branch, Nobby was, amongst other roles, a former Branch Chair and at the outset of the new IR structure Nobby was the first Area Delivery Rep for his area. Nobby then served the union by becoming elected to the Standing Orders Committee.

Latterly Nobby will be remembered for the sterling work he put in as a member of the Retired Members Advisory Committee. In recent years Nobby took responsibility as the Editor of the retired members magazine The Link, bringing news, information and guidance to our retired members. His dedication to this cause is a huge loss to all concerned.

Nobby was involved in trade union activity to the last as witnessed by him carrying the National Retried Members Banner on the March for the Alternative on the 26th March in London.

Our thoughts are with his family, and all of his friends within the CWU, particularly in the Eastern Number 5 Branch and the Easter Region, bodies he served with great dedication always putting his members interests to the fore.

Obviously no details are available as yet of funeral arrangements but as soon as we receive them we will pass them on.

Sorry to hear this news.
Nobby was regional secretary many years ago when our small office in the Anglia region had an unofficial walkout and he came to lend support and sort out the problem.
A true stalwart of the old shool.

Nobby Clark - Funeral Arrangements

Further to LTB 390/11, we have now been advised of the arrangements for Nobby’s funeral which are as follows


DATE: Friday May 6

TIME: 10.45

VENUE: Mintlyn Crematorium
Lynn Road
Kings Lynn PE32 1HB

Anyone travelling from London by train the branch will provide transport from station to crematorium – you will of course need to notify Paul Moffat, Regional Secretary, Eastern Region on 01908 318 197.
