Readers letter to Reading Evening Post

Post by legind »

No Wonder our great posties are upset

As you and you readers are aware, there is currently strike action being carried out by postal workers nationwide.
These hard-working men and women who deliver mail in all weathers (remember the storms) are trying to protect their jobs, earn a living (no pay increase this year) and save a
national institution ( The Royal Mail) from total destruction.
The millionare management treat these people with contempt.
I work from home and rely 100% on the Royal Mail.
I have nothing but respect for these people and have never had a single complaint about the postman. It is not their fault why we no longer have two deliveries a day.
Unfortunately I think the management at West Reading delivery office are a disgrace. After the strike on Saturday I should of received several important documents on Monday
but the wise management decided not to pay the post person extra monies for the extra time to deliver two days' mail in 3 1/2 hours. Hence no mail was delivered to my home on Monday as the postwoman had run out of time.
I spoke to a manager who refused to give me his name, but he confirmed that there was a massive backlog of mail, including my recorded delivery items and that the postal staff (who were willing to deliver everything) would not be paid to do so.
I find this attitude pathetic and childish - he obviously he did not care about the service he was supposed to mantain. I thought he was a coward in not providing his name, he did not want my details and told me to make a complaint to customer service - " I would find the telephone number in the phone book".
With managers like that no wonder the postmen are so upset.
I will write to Martin Salter M.P. , but I dont think he can be bothered as it is his Government who are destroying the Royal Mail.
I suggest that if anyone else has a problem with their service, you can phone the manager direct on the following number (0118) 980 7795 but you may as well be phoning Planet Zog.
I hope some readers start supporting the postal workers other wise we will lose this one great institution forever.

Nice one,you got a link for this?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That's just the sort of positive publicity we need.
And well done for typing all that out. Must've taken quite a while if you type at the same speed as me.
