working to our time

Post by twobags »

What is the cwus stance on working to our time. i e cutting off when the new park and loop and start times start. will they be supporting us unilaterally or as at the moment with your union reps discretion. i e getting suspended before he can help. what can we expect, also overtime payments what can we expect from our union. the excuse at the moment is some days are light and heavy the old swings and roundabouts retort or are you doing the job properly maybe your not quick enough responses,with park and loop there wont be any more light early finish days,and is there a system in place if you are not happy with the support and help you get from the office union rep, it seems to me they are unacountable

we need a union ,we need a balance especially at the moment, im bullied at work ,at the supermarket at the petrol pump infact i ve just been bullied at the local council car park where they have just hiked the prices of parking by 200%.so much for not putting up council tax, i am exploring the avenues of other unions recognised by royal mail or not closed shops are illegal ,

A closed shop is not where any numbers of Unions are recognised, its where to join the workforce you have to join the Union recognised by the employer. As you correctly state that is illegal.

As to RM recognising another Unit - well possible but extremely unlikely: http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/ac ... =REGUPDATE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
From 6 April 2005, new legislation will change the process of statutory trade union recognition. If you employ 21 or more workers a union may ask you for recognition. If you agree to this, the statutory recognition process is completed.

If you ignore or refuse the request the union may apply to the Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) for recognition for all or part of your workforce. CAC will accept the application if:

at least 10 per cent of the workers are union members
the majority of the workers are likely to favour union recognition
The CAC will then decide whether to automatically recognise the union or hold a ballot. If a ballot is called:

you will need to co-operate with the CAC in arranging the ballot
you must let the union have reasonable access to your workers, and allow the workers to go to union meetings
you should not attend the meetings or try and find out what happened at them
you must not intimidate or unduly influence your workers during the balloting process
the costs of the ballot will be shared by you and the union
If a majority supports recognition and makes up at least 40 per cent of the balloted workforce, you must recognise the union.
