Now i like dogs but i do not like to be put at any risk,if i feel threatened can i legitimatly refuse to ever deliver the post no matter what they do?
Unless they stop owning the dog of course.On my old delivery walk i had a customer with a jack russell who had absolutly no control over the dog whatsover,he assured me that the dog would never be free to bite me but on several occasions it was and was just lucky that the bloke grabbed the dog in time.One day it did attack me i was lucky enough to fend the dog off with my bag but when i came off the walk my freind got attacked and bitten by the bloody thing.These kind of people need to be taken seriously along with postmen whom are attacked and i dont think that the royal mail or any one else takes it seriously enough.For me the office should be telling these kind of customers that they will have to collect the mail from the office until the dog is either destroyed or dies in someway or no longer owned by the said person.
The union for me should be defending us more and stating that we have a zero tollerance policy,if your dog bites,then you do not receive your mail ever,insted you will be going to the office to collect everyday.Why is it not taken seriously enough?

In conjunction with the RM Policy dogs are also dealt with under the WRAP system.

Must say in our office,the whole office from linos down have strict rules on dogs,all linos say the same dont put yourself at risk.
If it is a serious threat , customer will have to collect their mail from office,or make other arrangements.

Report it to Managers,I Had one dog really put the fear of god up me.Never attacked me or got close,but they had a thin glass front door,and thought it would come through it.If this dog got out it would not have bitten me ,it would have eaten me.

Got lino to see the problem and got it sorted.
Family had young kids ,and as always perfect with them,till it turned,now dog has gone.

Dont take risks,not even with bad tempered cats.

dim will suspend delivery or if it bites inform the old bill and do them in court

When i was on delivery's if there was any dog loose i would just write on letter's dog loose and send em back, did a whole street once cos there was a dog roaming around. Gaffer's backed me up when i got complaints which i was a bit shocked at.

dog out no delivery simple
a few months back our DOM said dont go into any garden if dog is out even if you have been in there before, i assume if we get bit they wont pay for sick leave.
our DOM is good on this score if we have dog problem he will back us up and even stop delivery till he has assurances form the owner that the dog will be kept under control
