Some DOs you get away with bringing mail back but i think it depends on local agreements?
Seems to be the case in most DOs you have to deliver what you take out. But if you have agreed with the manager before hand that you can leave a row then thats their problem! You get paid by the hour and not per delivery / walk.

Thats only because most people are not aware of the full procedure. In downloads somewhere is a document that has a procedure for advising management when you are unable to complete whilst inside, but there is also a procedure for the same thing when you believe you will be unable to complete outside if you don't want to work over. I am away from my main computer so will post a link when I get back to my desktop. If you know you are not going to complete before you leave the DO you have to inform a manager.
Failure to do so could lead to a charge of wilful delay.
So if you left the DO 2 hrs late and had no intention of working past your time you should inform them before leaving the DO.
If you leave on time but an incident occurs to delay you (late drop bags etc) that is a different scenario.
