Ok don't panic,it's me posting it,read on.

My mate works for this company, wages are kack, has to work 6 days a week to earn anything decent plus do OT during the week.
Does about a 55hr week!!!
Just been told there's no pay rise this year for him and his guys.
Also told if they didn't like it,they can f**k off(Managers words)
A weeks notice is all they want, which is against the norm for them!
And yes,the company wont let them be in a Union.

Over to you guys.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This is why Royal Mail want to destroy the Union. The 'real' world sucks, all the power and control is in the hands of big business and 1 or 2 power crazy individuals. Not only is this struggle a fight for our jobs, but also to protect our Union. I've worked out there and it's money, money, money all the time. It's easy for companies not to recognize unions, pay minimum wage and change hours of work on a whim and they're work force either accepts it or leaves. There are so many Daily Mail readers running small businesses that treat their workforce like s*** that it is the norm, not the exception. We had better win this dispute or we know the future we face.

You may have described just what the future holds for us, POSTMAN. But only if WE allow it , and I don't
for one single moment believe that there isn't more than enough Postal workers, with the courage, strength , and determination,
to fight and not only keep the last few conditions which seperate us from more exploited workers like your mate, but for
once , just for once , when Lamebrain & Dozier slink away from Royal Mail with their tails between their legs, show that even
in this day and age, David can truly slay Goliath. :Very Happy :dance :nana :cool

And yes,the company wont let them be in a Union.
Illegal. Anyone is allowed to be in a union but until 50% +1 the firm does not have to recognise it. I believe that it is also illegal to sack someone just because they are in a Union.

Statutory union recognition

Note: This is our original regulation update text, published on 1 April 2005. Unlike the rest of our site, this archived material is not updated if the law changes.

Relevant to
Employers with 21 or more workers

Took effect on
6 April 2005

From 6 April 2005, new legislation will change the process of statutory trade union recognition. If you employ 21 or more workers a union may ask you for recognition. If you agree to this, the statutory recognition process is completed.

If you ignore or refuse the request the union may apply to the Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) for recognition for all or part of your workforce. CAC will accept the application if:

*
at least 10 per cent of the workers are union members
*
the majority of the workers are likely to favour union recognition

The CAC will then decide whether to automatically recognise the union or hold a ballot. If a ballot is called:

*
you will need to co-operate with the CAC in arranging the ballot
*
you must let the union have reasonable access to your workers, and allow the workers to go to union meetings
*
you should not attend the meetings or try and find out what happened at them
*
you must not intimidate or unduly influence your workers during the balloting process
*
the costs of the ballot will be shared by you and the union

If a majority supports recognition and makes up at least 40 per cent of the balloted workforce, you must recognise the union.

You can also apply for derecognition of a union using the same system if:

*
you have employed fewer than 21 workers over any 13 week period
*
three years have passed since CAC awarded recognition to the union
*
you have not already made an application in the last three years
