the post of legal + medical sec is up for election in my branch. any advice on what this post requires of the incumbant? any course,s or qualifications needed to hold this post?

Not really. Simpson & Millar will send stuff to you in regards to members claims. It's your job to pass on their requests to the members but simplifying Simpson & Millars requests. Don't just pass on Simpson & Millars letters to the member otherwise they will just go direct to the member there-fore the position is pointless.
If you have release time try and get to those offices without USR's/reps. The LS3 forms are paramount. Try and give them to those members without a rep. Also print off the DWP Industrial accident forms online. Send them out with the LS3 form to those making a claim. This form,again,is paramount as it "firms" up the claim.
