Been with RM since Aug 2008 as agency casual then taken on in Dec 2008 on a FTC 25hr contract. I work in a small office and enjoy the job and banter that goes with it. Since I started I've been working mainly 40hrs doing Conveys and now a Hybrid Duty, also trained up in the Callers.
I joined the forum due to searching Google for FTC and grievance procedures. My Union Rep wants me to put in a grievance about me not having been offered a permanent contract. Now I am aware that I didn't start before June 2008 but my Union Rep has stated that at a nearby office there are three people in a similar position that are at a Stage 3 grievance. He says that this is because there are Royal Mail employees with less time served that have been given a permanent contract. However, when I've asked for this to be a fact it seems that no one knows who these people are. If anyone knows that this has happened please could you advise me with some facts, i.e. Start of employment and when they were given a permanent contract and maybe the area they work in. No names. Any info would be much appreciated, I don't want to start a grievance based on hearsay and without relevant facts.
I know this is an intro/question so any mods out there feel free to let me know the correct place or move the post but figured this would kill two birds with one stone and give me maximum exposure.
Many Thanks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Hello:FTC and grievance procedures
To be honest the best advice i could give you is to contact this guy. rellis@cwu.org
The more information he has the better and if anyone can tell you whether Royal Mail have since moved on their position of June 24th 2010...it will be him.
As far as other offices are concerned the union did say that....

So how far you would get with the other office argument....i really don't know.Conversions to permanent contracts will be phased in, starting in those offices where revisions are imminent.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
