The Agency Workers...

Post by J »

Funny thing happened tonight at my MC.

Obviously we're overloaded with agency staff, just like most heavy offices around the country. However, agency staff at my MC were caught on the following security breaches:

1. Taking uniform that is due to be issued to regular staff and caught trying the red polo shirts on.
2. Getting 'other people' outside of the agency to come and sign on and do their work for them (one of their agency colleagues grassed them up - LOL).
3. Soon as the electronic barriers were opening, running through with out being security checked.
4. Smoking spliffs at the staff entrance.

These are a few incidents to name, but ultimately, what has happened...... NOTHING!!!

Diddlysquat, nowt, nixy, nothing!!!!

Whats it like in your office? Do you have any of these problems?

I know we should let them get on with it, but if it was one of us regulars, we would be booted out the job by now!!!!

Agency staff have been supplied by Reeds at my mail centre. Last week the Mail Centre Manager terminated the current batch because they had not been 'security vetted' by Reeds. Don't know what was behind that, but would guess that the IB have caught them nicking stuff.

Why are they so determined to upset the workers that have been loyal and over supportive of changes even when it makes there job harder? :d'oh! :d'oh! :d'oh! :d'oh!

Picking on employees that make one mistake after years of loyal service, but ignoring violations of rules by others. :no no :no no

Yeah, they never seem to prosecute casuals or agency staff. The agency staff who are returned to the agency are probably just sent to another office.
And we get the blame from the Public if their mail is stolen.

Yeah, it's Reed's at my MC too. However, on return after the 3rd Strike, I saw angency staff in our priority service locker and the door was wedged open. The managers that had been in whilst we were out we're actively encouraging them to wwalk in the locker to get a failed despatch out.

Stupid ba*tards!!!

just remember who runs manpower incase you didn't know MRS :lfo . Also it is illegal for royal mail or any company to employ agency casuals to cover striking employee's so report these people and agencies to your branch or area reps

My Area Rep did make a complaint to the Mail Centre Manager about Agency staff being used during official strikes. His reply was that they were not being used to do the work of people on strike!!! I believe the Branch is taking legal advice.

We had a load of agency staff from manpower turn up at our MC on Tuesday, luckily one of the eastern european comrades asked our branch chairman on the picket line for directions and showed him the invoice. Needless to say he was on the phone to the Mailcentre manager and gave him an ear bashing for ferrying agency staff over a picket line which is illegal, got in touch wth Manpower and informed CWU HQ. The managment seem to treat the Law of the land with as much contempt as they do us. Hopefully the gits will get a huge fine but somehow I doubt it....Funnily enough the name on the invoice wasn't the MCM it was the shift manager, me thinks someone's trying to cover their back by hanging a fellow dummy out to dry

Now that is a surprise!!!

Didn't know Leighton was married. I thought he had no di*k coz it's welded to his forehead!!!

Sorry, had to get that out of the way there. LOL!!!

Seriously though, didn't know Leightons missus ran that company!!!

I think CWUHQ are looking into the matter of the agency staff and it's legalities. However, if these people are employed on week long contracts or 2 week contracts, effectively they become an employee don't they then all they are doing is scabbing. Please do correct me if I'm wrong folks!!!

By the way, its still morally wrong as well to use these people!!!
