I had the same yesterday, my rep said if I can get to 10am it will only be a part absence

I think you have to attend the workplace for at least an hour, It should go on your attendance record but listed as a part absence, not a days sick.

1 hour attendance, then your alright. they have to tell you on your return to work if youve had to many part absenses, and they are going to count them on your attendance record in futureSherpas Rule wrote:I have a really heavy cold just now bordering on the flu, turned up for work today hoping I would feel better after a bit but as the morning wore on I was struggling so told the boss I'd have to go home.
I'm sure I remember reading here before that if you attempted your shift but had to go home that it doesn't count against your sick record although I also think it depended how much of your shift you'd worked before you went home?
If anyone could shed any light on it I'd be gratefull.

Can't rem where it was on here but this week i read that it was 1hr of your shift.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

As I understand it a part absence is only counted as such if you resume the next day.
If the next day is an exempt day you have to ring in to say you are fit to resume, although you are on an exempt day.
If you are still off sick the next day, the day of the part absence is then counted as your first day of sick absence.
