Need advice Urgent Please

Today we had 6" of snow and was told to take out what we could and if it was dangerous to bring mail back.

I explained to Dom that I would be taking out my walk all od it and feed bags from my house.
I do a cycle delivery and my walk is 15 min ride from delivery office, now as we had snow on the ground so i walked with bike to my first delivery point, proceeded to deliver on foot but had the bag and packets on bike,

When I returned to my home to pick my next bag up I noticed a bag was missing, I phoned the office to tell them this and got the answerphone saying that the message box was full up and no messages could be left.

I decided to walk back without bike back( left bike outside my door lie I always do) to the other part of my delivery where my HCT box is and look to see if the bag had been dropped there by mistake and it had,i checked the label and it had said to be dropped at my home, I returned back home to rearrange mail and bags and while doing this, my manager had rung my house and my son had the phone and they asked him I was there, obviously i was as I was sorting the bags out to be delivered.
My manager asked if I was going to do my absorbtion which is back near the office, my reply was being as they had made a mistake with my bags , I would not have time to do it, his reply was you do i said No i don't as my drop bags had been messsed up and I was still deliverring and would not have time, he said we are coming to find you, so I said ok,

They then came to my house and knocked on my door and said to my son Is you mum there and he said no she is out on delivery and they said her bike is there my son 12yrs old and unwell said she is out on delivery and I will ring her,

Aparently they(2 managers) came looking for me, but could not find me, then came back to my house and knocked on my door and asked my son where was I and when i came home they have gone to deliver the absorbtion,, I came home half hour later after finishing my packets and my son told me about them keep calling and asking him questions they even asked him what number house I should be at, now why would he know, as I never told him, where do i stand as I think they should not be harasssing my son as to where I am on delivery, any advice or comments would be appreciated

You should put in a grievance. They are harrassing your child ffs. Any manager with some common sense
will see that you went the extra mile as it is in these conditions.
I dont know why your office is still absorbing at Xmas, in severe weather conditions as the agreement
states that you should only absorb if you can within your time.
I would go in to see your boss with a witness and explain, sweetly, that you want a grievance form
and then tell him why. He will try to persuade you otherwise without any hint of threats as the witness
will be there.
Dont let them harrass you and definitely not your 12 year old son who is already feeling unwell without
seeing some twat appearing at the door.

Why are you using your house as a save drop??(was it a one off?) Are you getting the payment for that?? If your not stop using your house as a safe drop, mail is not supposed to be taken home, it might cause you some inconvenience but royal mail managers don't appreciate it. If you had to walk to a offical safe drop it would take you more time this getting rid of your absorption. Treat them the same way as they treat you, withdraw your goodwill.

It seems like your managers have far too much time on their hands, still roll on privatisation.

Anyway I suggest you be careful, they dont seem to trust your word about your workload, so leaving mail at your own house could leave you at risk at a later date. I would stop this practice from tomorrow, I dont think IB would approve of it either!

I agree with POSTMAN unfortunately...not sensible but....
To put my sensible head on if you want to go after these creeps i would seek help from as high up the union tree as you can go...start with your ADR but ask for a meeting with your Divisional Rep.
This is not for a local rep.

Based on what you just explained this is unacceptable bullying by managers and should be reported to your area rep or Branch Secretary John Hunt.

Now the other concerning thing was it safe to be out delivering , had a risk assement being undertaken. No HCTs or Bikes should have been allowed out in Essex today as the ice and snow was still covering most streets and pavements.

I'd put in a grievance form too, that is bollox, the only reason they do it is cos people don't stand up for themselves. Don't let them get away with it.

There was an earlier thread with a similar question regarding intimidation of family members by R/M staff. This is legally unaceptable--the chap in question got an apology from manager,tell in him no uncertain terms they had no right to harrass your 12 year old son in this manner.And you have every right to report it to the police, which is what I would do. If your house is regognised as a safe drop, you should be O'K on that, and it's not your fault they mucked the bag drops up.good luck.

Hi First of all Thank you all for the replys,

When i walked in to the D.O today both managers said hello, I ignored them except I made a sarcastic comment saying did you have a nice conversation with my son,
An Hour later Dom asked me to go into the office , so i took a witness in, They preceeded to question and ask me where I was yesterday when they was trying to find me, I said to the dom what was the weather yesterday like, I said I was on delivery and can prove it by the times I was deliverying packets, He said we looked for you I said I was out there and also I went to the toilet in someone's house whichh I am entitled to .
I then said Are you saying that I was in the house and he replied Yes, I also said what gives you the right to keep questioning my son, I know you did because he told me, I also explained I went back out to deliver packets and he said why did you back to deliver to homes I had already been too so the person who was with me said we provide a service, my dom then said what time did I finish and I said around 2.30 he pulled a face and then said we are going to deduct the sa from you, to which i replied yes do that and also why you are at it don't bother paying me the rest of the week as I will just do my normal hours which he replied there is no need for that.

I then said also I am taking out a grievence and bullying and harrassement against you for keep questioning my son, he said you don't have to do that, well i am and then phoned our adr told him the same thing and they are sending me a form to fill in.

I then asked the lino if she had also gone to my front door with the dom she said Yes so i said you will be implicated as well

So after all this I then got out on delivery doing my absorbtion at 10.00am walked it (normally do it by bike) returned to office picked up my bag and bike and walked to my first del point at 10.45. at the end of ordinary time 2.35 I had two bags left and took them back to the office. managers had gone home ( our finish time with out xmas pressure is 2.35),

I am sure I am going to be pulled back in the office in the morning.

I do my job properly yet yesterday walks had been left in frames not gone out , today some folks did not want to go out in the snow doing a full delivery and was allowed to leave some behind but got paid the xmas hours , now today In the office dom said I don't get paid so where is the fairness in that, I know for a fact one lady was back in the ofice the same time as me this afternoon but got paid xmas pressure sa till 4pm.

THanks again and I hope I have explained a bit more, to say i am seething is an understatement ,

But had lots of pressies from the delivery I did do part of today

WELL DONE Essex mum. When people stand up for their basic human rights like this they don't have a leg to stand on. You are doing everything by the book which is the only way to resolve this. Be careful about cutting off, the rules are you must inform them before you leave office that you won't have time to complete. If they pull you up on this tommorrow tell them you weren't aware you had to let them know before you left and remind them you told them you couldn't do OT. Also don't say you aren't doing OT becauase they have harrassed you instead find another legitimate reason such as you have family matters or other commitments. You don't need to give details if they insist tell them your son is traumatised. I bet theses scum wouldn't do that to a male postie. Absolutely shameful.

Hi Just another update it gets better NOT

Today was pulled in the office to ask why i had cut off, Took another postie (in who came in with me today) as to why I cut off

I explained that I had to go out and walk absorbtion, then return to office and start my delivery, I said that I had tld you i would not do O/T which he denied.
So while packing up bags for my walk which I had 7 to my normal 5 the dom said I had to cycle my absorbtion I said it is too dangerous to cycle but he insisted I did then go on to my delivery, because of this I then had to rearrange my bag that i take with me and was not able to take out as much for my first bag as my absorbtion has a lot of packets on, so left office at 9.30
got to my first delivery point at after doing absorbtion at 10.10 , our paths public still had a lot of slushy ice/snow, so walked with my cycle, so by now I had 3 bundles of mail and 4 packets, at one point my biked slipped over and the gear switch broke and the gears were left in 3rd and cable came out, so decided when I GOT A LITTLE BIT OF ROADl tried to ride the bike but it was hard work, so when I got to my first bag drop I left my bike there picked up my next bag and went and delivered that on way back the dom came up to me as he was doing my cut off and said why was I walking , so I said it is slipperey and it was easier to walk then ride the bike, he insisted I use bike so I went abck got the bike , so when i saw him again in another road I showed him the bike and he said he would get me another one , which he did , never seen someone go so quick and return with another bike lol, then he asked what i had to do so explained another 2 bags on this and another 2 bags at the other end of my delivery, ok he said, off I went by this time it is 12oclock , I then picked up my next bag that I used the bike with and packets in panniers this part of delivery takes me in normal weather 40 mins, but it took longer, the dom pulled up in his car both he and the lino got out , and he said have I nearly finished , no as I still had 15 mins left of what i was doing and had another 2 bags at the HCT. he then said why am i taking so long so I said had to sort bags out and had packets he said I was pulling a fast one and either I could do it properly tomorrow or get performance tested so i replied performance test me, he then said him and lino were going to deliver the other bags as by now it was 1.15, I finished the rest of the bag then collected my specials delivered them and saw the dom and lino actually i nearly knocked the dom over on my bike as he was coming round the corner as I rode my bike round, by this time it was 1.45 done the specials and returned to office with at 2.20pm

The dom and lino took a bag each on shoulder and delivered the other part that I probably would have cut off on,

No I think this is beyond a joke that they keep coming out and trying to find me and asking questions all the time it is only me they are doing it too.

When i got back to office I spoke to our union divisional guy for advice for when they pull me into the office tomorrow.

They don't like the fact I am cutting off,

This is totally outrageous behaviour from your Dom! One word of warning though. you are now being so specific with your posts, you could be identified! Keep a diary of everything that is currently being dished out to you.What's the Union doing about this?
