Bank Holiday days in lieu

What time off are you entitled to, during a bank holiday week, if your duty is as follows?

Monday 0600 - 1000 (4 hours)
Tuesday - Friday 0500 - 1400 (9 hours)

We have been told that if the bank holiday falls on a Monday, then we are only entitled to the four hours, even though it is effectively only a half day.

Sounds about right to my novice eye... This scenario should have been forseen before signing a contract agreeing to those hours. Good Friday works in your favour for what is an average 8-hour day, but you are out of pocket for the other bank holidays.

I would agree the holidays are worked out on contract hours. For instance on PH on a Friday I get 8.5 hrs and on a Monday I get 8 hours - on a Saturday I would expect 7 hours.

if you got the 9 hours the same as the rest of the week then you would be paid 5 hours more than you normally would work.

That's fair enough on paper TBT....but what exactly happens when a Bank Holiday Monday coincides with your day off.
Unless i'm mistaken you are credited with...a full day off in lieu despite the fact that you will be working the full 40 hrs that week.
This will be a big issue in future as part-timers may be on fixed Thurs,Fri,Sat attendances.... will they be entitled to Bank Holidays at all?...probably not...but if you were on a Thurs,Fri,Sat,Mon rotation...probably yes.
Discrimination...........possibly.
