callers office duty

Hi , going through re-sign soon in the office. can anyone help with these questions ?
1. do callers office duty / locker work attract an allowance ? if so what is it ? and how do they qualify for it ?
2. can callers office duty be picked in the re-sign ? , by seniority?
3. how do you qualify for leadership allowance ?

manager is saying the callers / locker duty is ringfenced ? why ? the current duty holder does not hold grandfather rights , as the post was filled after the way forward . One of my members wants to pick this duty in the re-sign , but feels he is being lied to by the manager . I have been looking into this via the way forward agreement and searching this site but have different versions , to which im unsure is the correct answer , need help to resolve a problem between manager and one of my members , thanx for any help Buzz1903

I think the callers office duty is classed as" specialist " which means that it doesn't go into the re-sign according to " Resourcing Jobs As A Result Of Major Change " agreement which is an attachment to the Way Forward but was finalised about 3 years after the Way Forward.

AFAIK the callers office is open to anyone. It is no longer a specialist job. Any donkey can do it but it is boring, mind numbingly boring. The customers get on your t*ts after a while, someone else puts the packets, specials and recordeds away that have been brought back and you cant find the sodden things. P*ssing down with rain and you think all will be quiet and then one after another the brain dead arrive looking for their items whilst telling you that they were in and the postie didnt knock. You try to explain to them that it is easier to deliver them than P739 them and then they accuse you of calling them liars.
Better out on delivery any day

No, just saying they can't do outdoor duties , and not reg under DDA either .

Nope - no allowances beyond the Delivery Supplement or any shift allowance they may get because of early starts etc.

2. can callers office duty be picked in the re-sign ? , by seniority?

Yes as long as its not ringfenced

3. how do you qualify for leadership allowance ?

You have to do a leadership role with no managers present is the simple answer. Working in the Callers Office on its own does not attract leadership allowance.

It can be, we have 3 in ours 2 permanent 1 as cover. Of those 1 of the duties is ring-fenced because of DDA reasons. The callers office duties can be ringfenced AFAIK along the same lines as other duties DDA, FF, Long Term Rehab etc.

Nope - no allowances beyond the Delivery Supplement or any shift allowance they may get because of early starts etc.

Can you tell me what AFAIK means ? and also FF ? my member wants to sign for the callers duty . but i think the manager is trying protect one of his mates , which is not on at all . . help will VERY HELPFULL . trying to stop this blue eyed boy syndrum . no dda or rehab in this at all . the senior member wants to sign for the duty , but told the callers duty is for life ?

The Callers Office duty is still classed as " specialist",i checked it out on RM intranet.There is a document on the intranet for DOMs/Reps that covers the revision process for DOs in that document is a list of specialist duties Callers Office is one of them,so unless the document is wrong,the callers office does no go into a re-sign.
