TUC national strikes threat?
So, does this affect us?..are we likely to go out in protest at the government cuts, I would imagine if our our leadership have designs on this then we will need to be balloted, after last year they can go and take a running jump!!!

Re: TUC national strikes threat?
I think it would be a right piss-take if the CWU balloted members so soon after dishing up yet another in a long, long, line of shyte agreements, this latest one had absolutely nothing in it which rewarded CWU members for their sacrifices made in lost wages, nor did the one before, or the one before that!!!
Strike? you gotta be kidding, 'aint as if I have a job worth striking over anymore.
If the job can conceivably get worse, then so be it, but as far as I'm concerned it can't, no matter who owns the bloody company!

We can't go on strike just because others are.windermeredave wrote:So, does this affect us?..are we likely to go out in protest at the government cuts, I would imagine if our our leadership have designs on this then we will need to be balloted, after last year they can go and take a running jump!!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Stop making pathetic excuses not to strike. Are you saying you're prepared to be strike breakers?

I cannot speak for others, but for myself, sadly, yes, and it's with a heavy heart that I say that.norwichchris wrote:Stop making pathetic excuses not to strike. Are you saying you're prepared to be strike breakers?
However, I would strike to win back all that the CWU have conceded on our behalf to Royal Mail.
I would also strike for a wage increase in line with the cost of living, every year if necessary.
As for preventing the privatisation of a firm that's ridden roughshod over us, as if it were a private concern anyway, you must be joking, mate.
Hope that helps,somewhat.

Re: TUC national strikes threat?
my opion my choice, as working in delivery and being constantly s**t on everyday (walk collapseing ,d2d money, flexability) it wouldnt matter if we striked as it would make no difference to the way the job is run, and what the cwu lost for us we would never get back so are people prepared to lose even more money to support the cwu.norwichchris wrote:Stop making pathetic excuses not to strike. Surley if you were supporting the CWU you would be supporting yourself and all your fellow rank and file mbrs which make up the vast majority of the CWU.
The CWU is not under attack, so its not supporting the CWU, its suporting working people all over the country.
Like it or not unless your planning a wildcat, the powers that be are the ones with the authority to ballot and call IA.
A strike would be nowt to do with the employer and to use a agreement between union and employer that you do not like as a excuse to not go out on IA/Strike is just plain daft.
The agreement with the employer should have no bearing on voting for and taking part in a national stike.

But, I'm afraid, it will, and not just the 2010 & beyond rubbish, but the 2007 pay & modernisation crap, the 2003 SDD bollocks, and not forgetting the 2000 way forward shyte, not a single one doing anything to enhance or improve terms & conditions for postal workers.Big Daz wrote:

What the CWU did to striking postal workers in 2009 will have an effect in terms of members jumping to every bark from Wimbledon, Daz.
It had to happen one day, that the CWU would negotiate one shyte deal too many. Members have had a gutful of losing thousands of pounds and for what? So that every time we walk back in the door we arrive at a job significantly worse than before we went out?
Enough, is enough, Daz. The timing is unfortunate, but if the CWU had preserved even 25% of the job as it once was, allowances we once enjoyed, and ensured that the healthy respect management once had for it's workforce remained intact, and recognised that it's unhealthy lapdog servitude to the shower that replaced the Labour Party, was to say the least, bordering on suicide, we would all, members, activists, officials, be all singing from the same hymn sheet.
But no, the CWU took the road that has led us to this, an angry, demoralised, thoroughly fed-up, members of a union that should, could, have done better for us, and now will begin to reap what it has sown this last decade.
Believe me, I would have it different, and I know that some will bleat at me saying, "well, the company would have gone bust by now, blah, blah, blah," but as long as we have senior managers pulling down as much as £1.7million per annum, Higson, for a few hours a day, a few days a week, and we've had these freeloaders always, there is no excuse for a union presiding over what has been a disastrous decade for postal workers, both in terms of earnings, and worsening conditions of employment.

I'm afraid you're living in a dream world if you think that members perception of the CWU's past performance will have no bearing on their decision to take Industrial action.Big Daz wrote: The agreement with the employer should have no bearing on voting for and taking part in a national stike.
You can argue all night whether it should or shouldn't but it's rather pointless because when all the arguing is finished....it will.
