1. Yes you can carry over up to 5 days - more at managers discretion.torres wrote:1.are you still allowed to carry days over to the following years annual leave.my manager says no.

2. Yes he can tell you to lapse if duty time permits. All overtime is voluntary so if the combined tasks take you over your time then ask the manager what you should do. He could try to invoke the flexibility 30 minutes but this is for unseen operational reasons (Machine breakdown, van breakdown, roof falling in (Sheffield)) and he cannot use it as the situation you have described is not unforeseen.Way Forward Agreement 2000 says:
Carrying leave into another year
Annual leave should generally be taken in the year that it is due, and the business expects all employees to
have at least four weeks away from work every year. However up to one week (or 5 odd days) may be carried
over into the next leave year, and up to five days may be anticipated during the last month of the previous
leave year. Transfer of leave in excess of these limits requires written permission from the line manager,
except that leave that cannot be taken due to sick leave may be allowed in the following year. Where this is
granted and would reduce the annual leave taken in a particular leave year to less than four weeks, the
individual must also confirm in writing that they are willing to voluntarily forgo their statutory leave
entitlement under the Working Time Regulations 1998.

4. I was going to copy it but its too long - again its the Way Forward Agreement (and any amendments) that has the policy on this http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... rd#p295023" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Page 27 I think is the page you need to check.

The Manager can leave the duty vacant for 6 months or until there are 5% vacancies in your unit ,what ever comes first. When it is advertised it would be on seniority unless there are surplus OPGs in your office.torres wrote:1.are you still allowed to carry days over to the following years annual leave.my manager says no.

Re: helping a small office
We have 4 empty full time rounds on my section alone at work and over 20 in the whole office since many people left through EVR. Many empty duties they use as lapsing. Some have been vacant for over a year now without going up for signing. I guess management can pretty much do what they like now
Union what Union? Do we have a union?
