ill health retirement with lump sum

been of sick for about 5 months now, shooting pains and like a bruising pain in both feet been to specialists and gps no one seems to know whats going on just had first x ray waiting for results, while work have been trying to force me into work while off sick, seen atos and and now they want to make me retire due to ill health, but not once have they asked permission to contact any of the doctors ive been seeing are they allowed to make me retire with out looking into my condition? also if that happens and i get 34weeks pay will i be able to claim benefits or will i be expected to live on the 34weeks pay i get?

You've heel spurs, the x-rays will confirm it.
They won't get any better with the job so you have to decide whether it's better just to go and get yourself a job that doesn't include walking for 5/6 hours everyday or do you take the money and get another job.
Mine are bad only since the introduction of the magnums and the longer delivery spans but serious painkillers do help (kapake and 75mg volterol will do the job ).

im on 30/500mg cocodonal they help abit but not alot, but they are that bad that even walk to the shops and back really hurt, where do you get those pain killers your on from? prescription?

with IHR with lump sum its ...34 weeks pay + notice period( 9-12 weeks ) + shares ( about 1100 ) + plus outstanding leave... The leave and shares are taxable and subject to NI..The rest isnt...

ive got insoles specially made for me but they dont seem to do a lot thanks anyway

You can `try` and claim Employment and Support Allowance if your unable to work,you will get it after they piss about assessing it for 6 weeks so it will eat into your savings,but when they do award it it will be backdated to when you first claimed.
They will also send you a 24 page questionaire asking you about your health then make you go and see some arsewipe at the Jobcentre who will talk to you about returning to work and again ask you loads of questions about your health,after about 4 to 5 months you have to go and see one of Atos `finest`quacks who will find you fit to do any work even if your half dead as the goverment want people off benefits and back into work so your taxes can pay for a few Jags and moat cleanings.
You WILL then be put onto Jobseekers and expected to find a job,so you might as well tell RM to shove ill health up there ass and give you an indoor job unless of course you can't stick the place and want to leave or have another job lined up.

anyone no what the insurance plan is royal mail and the union have for when you have a accedent on duty i had one a year ago and now need oppearation so will be of me feet again and loads more reabilatation at the hospital and doc said i will still not be right just have less pain evey day aftewards he said but all the travel to hospital and parking is nowcosting me a small fortune and no help off royal mail even tho i did it on dutyany help would be great

Sadly, savings or your pay off will be taken into account when assessing your claim for housing/council tax benefits. It is not quite as straightforward as it;s suggested, i'e. less than £16000-etc, as benefits are worked out on a sliding scale,and other factors are taken into account.As for your condition, as a rule of thumb wirh R/.M if your condition will prevent you from working for 9 months, they will look into IHR. Not sure what you mean by insurance plan? Do you mean compensation? Both R/M and the union should however have access to hardship funds, that you could maybe apply to for help with costs, but don't hold out much hope! Both the courier and the voice should have details.

depends on what you want.
do you want IHR
if so - you choose - IHR (lump sum, can't work until 9months later) or IHR (with immediate pension - can't work for at least 10 years after)
if i was you i'd appeal the decision and see if you can get an office job or indoor job...many more years of work/pay/pension...

you must appeal asap and in writing!

you need real evidence when you appeal IHR....They go by 9 months at face value when you have a consultation with them...Very hard to change their minds....However if they offer pension...RIP THEIR HANDS OFF...

its not heel spurs well dont think so any way as x ray showed nothing so now waiting for mri scan and back ascan, think its going to be a long journey to get sorted out

they sent me a lump sump figure of 34 weeks pay and 9 weeks notive pay but no shares is that right??
