trackers in vans

WHAT IS THE LEGAL POSITION OF THE TRACKERS IN THE VANS ARE ROYAL MAIL ABLE TO US THEM TO WATCH US WHEN EVER THE WANT AND WAT DOSE THE DATA PROTECTION ACT SAY ABOUT IT OUR MANAGER SEEM TO LIKE TO LOOK AT THEM ON A EASY DAY ANY HELP

What are you doing to be afraid of??
If they tracked my van they'd find my obeying all speed limits, putting my seatbelt on for every trip, gentle acceleration and braking, turning off the van everytime I stop to get out and locking it when I'm away for it so I can't see the problem if you followed thier rules.

Where is the tracker in your van ? Or do you mean the PDA ? With sat nav tracking system ?

All the RM vans have had the trackers installed on them for a few years now, they don't use the pdas for tracking but I think it's some gps thing on the roof. If you search these forums you'll find thread(s) about them.

We have had the van telemetry system for a while now.
Usually they only come to you if it's harsh braking or idling for more than 3mins...that's rurals for you.
It's usually where the ciggie lighter used to be.

to target people on a low mail day when they now you could be done half a hour early not the days you work over are we able to tell them they owe us this time back

our vans dont have them on, but ive seen them when we've had vans from other depots, looks like a round metal circle

THE AGREEMENT WITH THE UNION STATES THAT TELEMETRY CAN NOT BE USED FOR DISCIPLINARY REASONS,ONLY TO POINT OUT BAD DRIVING AND THE LIKES.
WHEN MY LINO ASKED ME LAST YEAR WHY I HAD BRAKED SO HARD AT SUCH AND SUCH A TIME ON SUCH AND SUCH A DAY AND GOT ALL HIGH AND MIGHTY ,I ASKED IF THE TELEMETRY SHOWED THE 5 YEAR OLD KID THAT HAD RUN OUT IN FRONT OF ME!!! WHEN LINO SAID NO I SAID THATS OK THERE WASN'T A 5 YEAR OLD KID BUT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SO HE SHOULD GET OF HIS HIGH HORSE AND REALISE THAT YOU CAN'T SEE SOD ALL SITTING ON HIS ARSE IN AN OFFICE.
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR ROYAL FAIL FOR OVER 27 YEARS ,I AM A MEMBER OF THE INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED MOTORISTS AND ROYAL FAIL INSIST ON CALLING ME A "PROFESSIONAL DRIVER" SO I ADVISED HIM TO GET OF MY BACK OR I WOULD PUT IN A GRIEVANCE FOR BULLYING ME.SOON SHUT HIM UP-NUMBNUTS!!!

On a low day I still finish just in time..Its a day to drive in a relaxed mood - admire the scenery - chat to customers - enjoy my sandwiches(while the van is not moving for a change) and if I have nothing for a farm 2 miles up a dirt track I will still go there just to give the telemetry something to do while I listen to my favorite pop tunes. Wave at the farmer when I get there and drive back again. Its a bit different if your on a bike but you don`t HAVE TO finish early on a light day.

sorry plodder didn't mean to shout.yes he is a dickhead but he's not the worst in our place by a long way.

The system also tells them where you are everytime you switch the engine on or off. Caught a few of our guys out that way.

been told it's got a built in motion sensor ...so every time you get in it knows and the pda's can also do basic checks to pinpoint your whereabouts, the round disc is for the key to identify you as the driver but as yet i haven't seen them issued or used .
