2007 pay bulletin number 77
EXPOSED
Following the exposal of Royal Mails outrageous plans for all of our pensions we can confirm that these plans are not just paper talk but REAL proposals that have been put to the CWU.

A national meeting was held today and the full report on all issues raised is as follows
NEW DATES
Dave Ward DGS(P) announced that the CWU were entering a new phase in this dispute. As previously stated the action that has been named is aimed at causing maximum disruption to Royal Mail and minimum to our pockets. It is quite clear that the action we are about to embark on will hit Royal Mail hard and the aim is to force then back into negotiations.
PENSIONS
The CWU can confirm that the ‘leaked’ document published in the Mirror newspaper is in fact a true document. Royal Mail has this document ready to go out to us all but are holding it back in fear of the backlash from staff. One point worth noting is that the changes also affect all junior and middle management!
CAMPAIGN
The CWU has stepped up its national campaign. The general secretary has met with the trade and industry secretary and put the CWUs case fully to him. We are now awaiting feedback from the Government but it is clear that the secretary of state was not aware of the full contents of the ‘business plan’

The campaign focus will now start to shift towards Allan Leighton and Adam Crozier. The CWU find it unacceptable that the chairman of our industry is allowed to get away with only working one day per week. It is also unacceptable that the financial results for this year have not been announced. These points are to be exposed in the media and to the public.

The CWU website www.cwu.org is now receiving over 1.3million visits each day! The union are set for a slot on GMTV this week and an advert is being placed in most national papers THIS THURSDAY.

TALKS
The burning question amongst the membership is have there been any talks. The answer to that is that Royal Mail has yet to commit to further negotiations. We hope that with the pressure of the media and the looming rolling strikes this will change rapidly. As always we will keep you fully updated on any developments.
