Collection revsion Geo route
In the middle of a collection revsion. WE have run some routes and tested five they are all short of drive time even the afternoon ones with no traffic. We have reduced the road speeds on busy roads in the planning stages but still not correct. Any reps/drivers got experiance off geo route resvions and if they worked? Off course the planners say its great tool and had not many problems at any offices. Any help would be great to fire back with to get all the default road speeds reduced.

Make sure your collection points are on the left,(H&S). When you say "time",in what way?

Re: Collection revsion Geo route
i mean the drive time for the route is say 2 hr but when tested it is 2hrs ten minutes, as for left hand only done that, but problem there is it takes you to the call on correct side but can then have you going in oppsosite direction (turning round on call) which with a box on a rural road is impossible to do with out driving to a suitable turning point. The first geo route had you doing all calls on correct side which had you driving all over which was great for us but added to much time so rm decide against using it even though they spent 12 million on it

If thats what it says then thats what it says. They won't put duties back in,only if your WSM revision is in. What about SA duties?

H&S and mail integrity, wouldn't want drivers crossing roads to empty boxes, firms ect and crossing back with bags and reg ect.dave7634 wrote:How do you mean? If drivers have to loop the loop and whatever to get to their call and it adds time, tough.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Collection revsion Geo route
Are you a collections hub in a delivery office or a mail centre?

Re: Collection revsion Geo route
The boundaries for distributin/deliveries have ceased,(and anyway they where Royal Mail boundaries..never ours). It is across the board now. Ask if this revision is based on budget. If they say yes,ask for it in writing and tell them you are passing it up. Don't agree to anything...even in principle. Any future revision has to go to the 6 step process.

Re: Collection revsion Geo route
thanks for that we are going through the six step revsion process, at stage two i think but not signed off due to unagread steps. Had a meeting today about lack off time generated for new routes. So meeting next week with area rep , i believe i will get what i want in the end. But i think the planners will try and railroad through revsion in areas where reps are not clued up or a bit green. As the planner said today they are desperate to save money!!!
