question about transfers

i just wanted to ask, i want to transfer a few miles away.
doesnt matter which town precisley but sort of weston/bridgwater/yeovil area ( as i can drive)

if i just apply for a transfer (full time) for those places and wait ,can i at the same time apply for a job thats advertised on the royal mail group job page? which is open to anyone.
(not that ive seen many full time ones on there lol) why are most of them part time?!!


also if i get a transfer, do i HAVE TO take it? cos my situation keeps changing :confused

Best thing to do is to call the office directly and enquire about vacancies. I know people who have done this and successfully moved to that office. The transfer paperwork has to be done obviously, but it's a lot quicker than the formal way and the DOM is more likley to consider you if you speak to him personally. I've heard of Managers that never receive the paperwork, so you always get overlooked. Good luck!

Go down to the offices on your day off and see them,i did and i was moved within a week!
But that was a few years ago before this job turned to hell,and also i think the DOM was rather pleased i wanted to go. :hmmmm
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

yeah i should just go and see them face to face.

today i asked my manager if i could apply. he basicaly said theres no point unless i want part time and hours are being cut everywhere! :roll:

That's probably true,but you might get lucky.
