Phase 1 (help needed)

Post by trouble »

I recently took up the rep job,but the manager isnt giving me any release time for phase 1.
I dont know what work has to be done for the completion of phase 1. The manager is not bothered and is going on holiday soon, she just keeps saying dont worry I will sort everything out.(I dont trust her)

Can someone tell me all the work the rep needs to be envolved in for phase 1 and what will I have to check before it is signed off.

Tried ringing area rep but he is on holidays for 2 weeks and phase 1 due to end in 2 weeks. I am on holiday after that.

Stressed out rep in need of some advice as I dont want to sell the men in the office short.
Also I dont want to have the manager blame me for any problems.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

What is phase 1?

Also if your ADR is on holiday has he not got a sub? Maybe you need to try the rest of the branch or maybe your DIV rep.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Is it to do with walk sequenced mail ?
last week we had the workshop in N. I reland and it went on about six phases in total. phase one is important as the other phases are build on from what goes in at stage one.

Sorry yes the workshop which we had to attend with the managers.
covered things like planning, A plus, geo routes, duty span indicators, options for the 1 in 4 Saturdays off and other stuff, went way to quick and some stuff was over my head as was suffering with a hangover.
Six phases to do with the WSM.

Sounds like your more informed than most of us, really i would get used to being a bit vague on details it seems to be how our union works.

Do you mean the Delivery Best practice Management Guide...?

Phase One
The first phase should set out and agree the parameters for the office revision. It is during this phase that the initial planning work is carried out and the ground ahead is prepared.

But remember this was a RM doc for Managers
. I would if i were you just tell your manager that your not up to speed with it all yet and want to talk to your Area Rep before you
do any revision work.Remember this is ment to be a joint approach,So tell your Manager that as you don't want to mess anything up it would be best to wait until the Area Rep returns.
Also don't under any circumstances sign anything off untill Area or Div Reps have given anything you come up with the once over and OK you to sign it off with your Manager.

When your revision is due to commence will depend on the savings task for your unit, nearer the time, you will get
the proper release time, you need to be involved -simples, if your DOM tries to side step you, flag it up to your area
rep, he will no doubt discuss the problem with the DSM.

Trouble you have to sign off stage one aswell as your DIM if hes not releasing you dont sign it off simples.

Then when they ask why you wont sign it off tell them because you had no input into it.

Try not to get stressed out just look forward to not signing off phase 1 go on your jollies and enjoy.

You cant not sell the lads down the river if you dont sign but make sure you read and understand all the info put in front of you.

Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire feck them no release no sign off..

Let me get this straight; You turn up to an important pre-organised workshop suffering from the effects of alcohol. As a result you have no idea what you are supposed to be doing, and you want us to pull you out of the s**t.

I think that you should let all of the Members you are supposed to represent know that you thought about only yourself, got pissed up and failed them.
