town councillor

Post by bitchface »

i have since january been a somerton town councillor.
today my rep said that he saw SOMEWHERE that town councillors get a certain amount of release (unpaid)for these council duties.

does anyone else know of this..
can anyone provide a download with it one?

several occasions ive had to bend over backwards to get a day off to attend meetings..even when i am still owed holiday

last time i cut off my manager even tried to bribe me by say he does me favours, now i should do him one...

so any assistance is great

Seriously though, other than that Shane fellow, who looks like a decent salt-of-the-earth type chap, all the others are dead ringers for the characters on a set of Cluedo cards  which will do nothing to dispel rumous that Somerton and Midsomer are one and the same place.

From Special Leave guidelines in the download area...

Voluntary unpaid service:
3 paid weeks per year, with loss of earnings claimed wherever possible, for activities such as Justice of the Peace and Local Councillor. Where attendance allowance is claimed for a commitment during paid release this should be deducted from basic earnings. Activities such as School Governor and Hospital Boards would warrant in the region of one week, subject to local assessment of the commitment involved. Where employees have multiple responsibilities, no more than three weeks' paid leave should be granted in total, except for Mayors or Lord Provosts who may be given up to four weeks paid leave during their mayoral year.

Hence the significance of the reference to most of the Somerton councillors being dead ringers for the suspects on a set of Cluedo cards.

No, we don't want that  so in an attempt to return to topic does anyone know how many of Somerton's 16 town councillors work for Royal Mail ? :Very Happy There must be at least two, the female 'bitchface' who started this thread and Shane who looks male in his Royal Mail uniform on the town web council site. :Very Happy which must make one realise that as people who get about more than anyone else and so knows the area well we must be ideal candidates for the role :Very Happy
