Caterpillar boots and shoes

Post by Spartacus »

Should the CWU put pressure on RM to stop the supply of Cat footwear in line with the ongoing boycott of produce from and companies who actively support Apartheid Israel?

Serious question.

I don't want my answer to sound flippant, but the CWU would probably end up making a donation to them.
It is a difficult question to answer. On the one hand we've waited years for a decent working boot, on the other Israel may well be out of order (I suppose it depends on your own point of view). Should the CWU concentrate on improving the terms and conditions of all its members (ha ha ha) or involve itself in world affairs?
Do the actions of Israel have a direct impact on my life and the lives of my family? Being honest, not at this time.
Do I agree with the action they have taken? No, I do not.
When I get home from work do my feet ache like hell? No, for the first time in 10 years they don't.

Great question. The answer must be yes. Purchasing power should NEVER been underestimated, what we buy, the world makes so for example we buy palm oil and thousands of acres of Amazonian rainforrest have to be clearfelled or burnt to supply crop fields.

Supporting Israel is like supporting Al Quieda. Israel say the are defending themselves and Al Quieda say they are defending their holy book. Israel are fueling the fire of war in the middle east and their conflict is the source hat fuels most international terrorism. If it wasn't for Israel's decades old terrorism of Palestine al Quieda wouldn't have existed and hamas would be a tiny minority group like it used to be. The sooner they are sorted out the sooner the world can chill out a bit.
