Dear Members,

You would of received/or heard the business’s plans/consult plans for the “Super Delivery office” in Watford. Yes there is a Mail Centre Rationalisation in the new agreement. There also is a “share all information with the CWU” and Vice Versa in the agreement.

Our area rep,(on Thursday), voiced his objections, and our reps too also voiced their objections on Friday morning, in that not only revealing the business’s plan BUT sending members letters would create panic. Hardly a good setting for “motivation”.

Some would say that this sort of action would only promote for volunteers for VR (Voluntary Redundancy).

Well we would exactly say this; logistically it would be a nightmare, and any questions our area rep asked was “no answer” or “could not answer”. There are meetings nationally on a regular basis; we would imagine this would be one of the main topics.

On the big issue of D2D, our DOM was not present this week. Therefore the resource meeting with the reps never took place. Apparently Wembley will have 3 contracts per walk. The agreement states to prep 1/6th in. However because of our shorter Saturdays this should be 1/5th. Whatever you get, please do remember to section the 5th on your frame DOWNWARDS and NOT ACROSS. We have an increasing amount of injuries within our office. This MUST stop! The “rush culture” and the result of it, (“Absorptions), are taking its toll. This is very serious. The trouble and frustrating fact is…it is self inflicted!! If you are rushing because you are getting bullied from a line manager. Please let SOMEONE know immediately!

There was a late development in the national negotiations on Friday in which there should not be any absorptions for the next 2 weeks to allow the bedding in of the D2D issue. The business has briefed their management in a totally different language.

Let’s be serious, they know that those “runners” will prep EVERYTHING on a Monday/Tuesday. You will then be able to absorb on Weds/Thurs/Fri. We cannot stress enough that the injuries are rising.
