Van sharing, dont want to drive van

Hi....Sorry if this has been answered somewhere already. Im a walking postie. I was today asked by a manager to do a computer based training to do with driving. I told the manager that although I have a driving licence I dont use my car on delivery. She then said it was for when van sharing comes in. I told her that I don't wish to be a driver when van sharing comes in, said that my driving licence is for my personal use, and I didnt apply to be a driver, and that when i applied for the job there was no condition that stated i had to have a driving licence. I said I was not going to do the computer training. I went and spoke to my DOM who told me that if I refused to drive a van I could be shipped out to another office. He said its in my contract that if ~I have a driving licence I have to drive. I have a copy of my contract here that i signed on 8th Jan 2007, and it states nothing of the sort, not that i can see anyway. Can i be forced to drive?? The reason I dont want to drive a van is that I am not a very confident driver, i use my car to get to and from work because that is a necessity. I've also only been back 2 days after being off for 2 months with depression/stress, partly caused by work, glad they gave me 2 days to settle in before stressing me out again! Anyway I need some advice on where i stand please as my office rep is off at the moment and I feel like my DOM is going to try and bully me into it by using threats such as being sent to other offices, thankyou.

I think everyone has to do this on computer driver and none driver. I have never driven a van since i started work for Royal Mail 10 years ago and i have done the course on the computer.

As the last person said there. Mess up the test... Another thing, they RM cannot make anyone drive, they can ask u to drive, put a letter in explaining that u do not wish to drive. State these factors, 1: it will affect ur personal premium if u hav an accident and u cannot afford to take the risk financially, 2: ur aren't a confident driver, 3: u only feel comfortable driving ur own vehicle. ..... I hav done this n got avletter back from the Dom sayin I will b no longer considered for driving duties. .... Everyone should do this n vancsharin will fall flat on it's face
