I'll bet they don't refuse the five day, 40 hour week the union won for them though. Maggots!

We were briefed on last strike day if non-members decide to stay away no action will taken against them, and no action was I know of some who stayed away.

The best thing for me on the last strike day was our ex manager. He resigned as a manager to become a postie again about 12 months ago. He did not go into work last friday although he is not in the union. I think this sums up the state the business is in.

If RM was to conduct code a non union member for not coming to work, they would be guilty of discrimination and vicitimisation.

The DOM could well end up in court!

We had a couple of non-union members in my DO who didn't cross the picket line and nothing happened to them. Your DOM's talking out of his arse (what's new?!) and there could well be a good case for bullying and harassment against him.

This could be a good reason to use when persuading them to join the union. Explain to them that this kind of persecution is just the tip of the iceberg and the union will protect them and even give legal representation if necessary.

Some people have personal reasons for not joining the union. In my DO we've got a couple of Poles who say they're against unions - which is hard to believe as Solidarność helped to free them from great privation and oppression. We’d be much worse off if it wasn’t for unions, going right the way back to the Tolpuddle martyrs.
